There seems to be an increasing number of sports people speaking up about the problem of males completing in women's sports which is positive. Thought it might be useful to have a thread of those who are risking sticking their heads above the parapet. Obviously the likes of Sharon Davies, Mara Yamauchi and Martina Navratilova have been bravely doing this for sometime but now we appear to have a few current athletes as well who are prepared to risk the mob to ensure women have fair competition. Is it too much to hope for that there will be a snowball effect?

The quote specifically mentions both transmen and transwomen so the PP was querying if there were any transwomen.

Yes, and I was pointing out how the quote from the paper could make it seem like cross sex categorisation is more common than it is.

Such imprecise language can contribute to an entirely unhelpful ‘normalisation’ effect.

In reality no one should be bothered if trans people compete as long as they compete in their correct sex category (and usual PEDs rules apply).

Well, that's fair enough.

I think they use this language for males who were mistakenly observed to be female at birth. They stop using AFAB (presumably because it suggests mistakes can be made) and go for the more certain “biologically female”. It’s just more language/ mind games and deliberately manipulative and misleading.

Teams are forfeiting matches because you are male and it's dangerous and unfair on women to play against you but you are not letting that stop you using your male athletic performance advantage to set records in women's volleyball!

Records are important but so is academic opportunity, and I wonder if he has also taken a scholarship from a woman.who might now not have the chance of getting a degree ?

Goodness! What could the odds be that a trans player (already an extreme rarity) also happens to be a record breaker? It's a unicorn event. Because there's no other reason for it. Certainly not any male advantage to see here.
