While critics shouted “shame on you” at the MSPs. One woman lifted their skirt and showed what initially appeared to be her genitals.

The woman shouted, “if you are not going to be decent, I am going to be indecent.”

However, it later transpired that she had been wearing some form of fake pubic wig.

According to the Scotsman, police did not arrest the individual immediately, however, the force has since received complaints and enquiries are ongoing.

My pelvic floor is stronger because of Gussie Grip so for that I will always be grateful. There's such secrecy (shame even) around women's genitals, you need a bit of a gimmick to get women relaxed and talking.

Boiledbeetle · 27/12/2022 00:17

Ugh safe around children. Won't someone think of the children.

I thought I'd caught all the fuck ups

Don’t be ridiculous, dressing like a vagina has fuck all to do with pelvic floor health and kegels. By your logic we should all be parading around with our tits out to ‘educate’ the public about breastfeeding. Or wearing a naked bum on our faces with an puckered arsehole visible to ‘educate’ about IBS.

It’s completely unnecessary. And not doing such things isn’t minimising any health issues regarding those body parts,

But she's been remarkably effective in promoting awareness of pelvic floor issues.

She's doing a fantastic job.

If you didn't need it, that would be an 'absolutely no need for any of this for me, I wouldn't appreciate it anyway after those IBS educating bastards superglued me into a puckered bum' type situation.

I'm all for more of the dressing as a vagina. It's funny & purposeful.

Argh. I really did not want to see that rainbow penis monkey 🙈
Its going to give me nightmares.

How is that costume not offensive? It’s like a perverse parody of Sun Wukong from the Mahakapi Jataka.

As a devout Buddhist, I am actually offended. Sun Wukong was one of the lives of Gautama Buddha. This is making a mockery of my religion. (I’m not joking)

I cannot answer this question, as I find it totally inappropriate around children, and drearily tacky for even an adult-only event.

Would you be surprised to know that at the time, multiple prolific trans activists argued for the performers and claimed it had been eminently suitable? As far as I could tell, they took this position just because gender-critical women were amongst those who objected.

He's also making a mockery of child safeguarding rules.

Hold on tight to the edge of that rabbit hole you are currently dangling in. Because once you fall it's a long long ride down

Not surprised by that at all. It’s part of the polarisation we are seeing.
It’s horrible.

The only people who should be investigated are the MSPs who voted against the amendment to stop rapists from self id-ing as women so they can rape more women with impunity.

The people here who are complaining about her protest where she wore a fake patch of hair over her tights - can I ask what YOU are doing to stop rapists from saying they are women in order to gain access to more victims?

Timing is everything. She did her clownery after the bill had been passed.
So at that point, she had to know she wasn’t going to actually affect the bill? It was most probably an act of comic self-publicity.

That would be a planned protest. The merkin didn't stitch itself together in seconds.

Her statement made her position abundantly clear - she was protesting an outcome she/we had foreseen.

Protesting after the fact = you’re not even trying to stop things.
@WandaWomblesaurus was implying she was trying to stop the bill:

AutumnCrow · 27/12/2022 02:25

That was the Bill at Stage 3, wasn’t it?

It still has a ways to go. From the Scottish Parliament website:

Turning the Bill into an Act

If the Bill is passed, it is normally sent for Royal Assent after about 4 weeks. Royal Assent is when the Bill gets formal agreement by the King and becomes an Act of the Scottish Parliament.
Some Acts become law straight after Royal Assent. Some only become law on a later date. Sometimes different bits of the same Act become law on different dates.

Running parallel with this, the UK Government can intervene, if it is so minded.

So all public outcry and publicity in this period is very important and relevant as it is PM Sunak’s mind that needs focusing, since the Scottish Parliament lost theirs.

WandaWomblesaurus · 27/12/2022 02:41

@Onnabugeisha what would you have done instead? Were you actually there?

EasterIsland · 27/12/2022 05:51

On the subject of Rainbow Dildo Butt Monkey, there was footage of the performers in the dildo costumes outside the library, harassing passers-by. If I recall correctly, it appeared they were particularly singling out women of visibly Muslim faith, for sexual harassment.

Good Lord! I didn’t read about that. That’s awful and really does show what unsuitable people they were to be around children in a public event.

Posting to say I am rather impressed by Elaine's protest and especially how much it is winding up certain folk.

I grateful that the posts from onna and somebody-vine bumped the thread so that I could become more aware of her excellent work in women's adult female health. My mother has health problems that Elaine and colleagues help with, and it is of huge importance.

Please keep discussing her unusual sartorial choices so that more people become aware of her work, many thanks

southbiscay · 27/12/2022 07:27

I am usually on the side of trying to change things by engaging in the process. I'm always alert to actions that the opposition could use to discredit women fighting to our rights.

But here I am 100 pc right behind Elaine because the reasonable, usual channels have failed and we cannot just say 'oh, ok'.

It's not throwing oneself under the king's horse or chaining oneself to the Houses of Parliament, it was a display of tights and furry material but if it gets publicity and traction then three cheers for Elaine.

Bearsinmotion · 27/12/2022 08:01

I was about to hop on and say I had not been flashed and then I remembered when 18 year old me was working on the mens ward as a housekeeper to top up my student loan. First job of the morning was to make tea and coffee for the patients. Rule was if curtains are closed you ask if it’s ok to come in. First day chap was fine. Second day, curtains closed but said yes to come in. Was very embarrassed that I seemed to have accidentally caught him exposed so I apologised profusely. Third day, same thing but when I went in his legs were spread with everything on display (including his catheter!) with a huge grin on his face.

“Forgot” to provide him with any tea or coffee after that.

QuinkWashable · 27/12/2022 08:04

Likewise, I’m happy to consider any evidence you have indicating such an obsession with parading genitals or fake genitals around in public is not a risk factor for women sex offenders?

Because I'm community minded like this, I did some googling - all the studies I can find are specifically about males (unsurprisingly I suppose since they commit the vast majority of sexual offences), where as we all know it is a starting step for more serious sexual offences. This indecent exposure is generally accompanied by masterbation, and is targeted at single, or small groups of women

Women flashing, the only stuff I can find is boobs, not genitals, and is associated with very public events - eg. mardi gras, concerts etc. with very different motivations - exhibitionism to suggest they are free and happy, non-sexual. Also political protests (again generally breasts) as an attempt to shock or again prove that the women are free to do as they please.

Elaine wouldn't have had to make the protest if it didn't pass, of course she only did it once it did! And by doing it, she's drawing attention to try and stop it getting any further.

QuinkWashable · 27/12/2022 08:06

Oh and I've been flashed 3 or 4 times, first time when I was 11. I say flashed, but actually, what tended to give away the fact their penis was out was the frantic masterbation movements of their hands.

So definitely I'd call that indecent exposure, and of course a million miles away from a woman lifting her skirt in political protest to show her leggings and a massive fake fur muff.

Signalbox · 27/12/2022 08:20

It must quite difficult for a woman to flash their genitals. They’re fairly well hidden aren’t they? You’d almost have to lie down to expose yourself and that’d put you in quite a vulnerable position and make it hard for you to run get away from your victims. I can’t really see it catching on in the female sex offender community.
