Seems there's a lot of discussion going on about this article:

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/11/19/ministry-justice-officials-warned-talk-protecting-women-could/

KPSS have the document distributed by the HMPPS staff network:

twitter.com/noxyinxxprisons/status/1594111361692225537?s=46&t=T982lWXjOLKvfzxMzKbtmg

Anya Palmer says the employer is liable in this case re this network and anyone who works there, who feels harassed by that email would bring the claim against MoJ:

Bev Jackson comment on the matter of TQ+ networks:

Baroness Nicholson has written to Bravermann, hell of a letter

twitter.com/Baroness_Nichol/status/1594817899163971584?s=20&t=hCxM17rzoEOjdY6USrHlXg

She makes a good point that's troubled me and, I've seen, others on these boards that there are fine words from Ministers which seem to be completely ignored with impunity.

FigRollsAlly · 22/11/2022 01:19

Great letter. Isn’t coded language just another way of saying dog whistle? Maybe dog whistle is the language of Twitter etc and they were trying to get away from that sort of tone but whatever they call it, it’s a way of shutting up any opposition and totally outrageous.

ResisterRex · 22/11/2022 05:31

The Baroness has also written to Keim:

twitter.com/baroness_nichol/status/1594818237023256576?s=46&t=aFwKYzUKWRRIcAB6MAWLKw

The "coded language" nonsense seems like a way of trying to frighten the reader into thinking it exists (hmmm) when in fact, these are simply reality eg "natal man" (natal male in this instance) which of course the document goes on to wrongly describe using "gender assigned at birth".

Brilliant letter. Pointing out despite what a minister say, the CS ignore guidance with impunity.

Tweeting ministers does absolutely nothing. I doubt they even count the tweets.

You need to either write to your own MP making your points and asking for them to by raise with the Justice Minister (sometimes MPs needs asking more than once to do this - mine does) and you should then eventually receive a copy of the response by the MOJ. Meaning the MOJ have to actually formulate a response which will stir their lazy bones into looking at the situation. Tweets they can ignore.

The other option is to right to the Minster of Justice directly at the ministry making clear that you are writing to minister (not the MP). MPs are not supposed to get into correspondence with other MPs constituents. But they can respond as minster from the ministerial address and sometimes will do so. If you writer to the minister at the HofC not the ministry you'll get ignored.

Anyone wanting to write to his or her MP can get loads of useful details from Sex Matters including a clear break down of the issues with a downloadable copy of the document produced by this staff group.

Excellent summary piece by Sex Matters which has lots of details if anyone wants to take this to their MP

sex-matters.org/posts/updates/mass-harassment-in-hm-prisons-and-probation-service/

I can't write to my MP as I have just written about something else (and too many letters starts to make you look like a nutter). If anyone does write and gets a MoJ response it would great if you didn't mind sharing it with us!

I agree, writing is the way to go, although there may be an element of knowing your MP and whether they are very active on Twitter or other SM. The benefit of tweeting is that it may bring matters to the attention of a wider audience. Any action is better than none. The problem with tweeting is that the MP doesn’t know whether you are one of their constituents, whereas if you write and include your name and address they do know.

Damien Hinds is my MP, he is low profile on Twitter, on the other hand, he responds well to emails, I have written to him many times about many things over the years and always get a response (not a cut and paste job, or if it is he will say so).

Last time I wrote to him about the importance of single sex spaces, earlier this year, his response was encouraging and showed he was aware of the issues and supported the right of women to these spaces. So I will be writing to him about this.

Exactly. It's not 'coded' language, it's just language.

They want people to stop using actual language. Correct language, accurate words.

Yes. It makes the government look weak and manipulated. A bit Yes Minister.

nilsmousehammer · 22/11/2022 10:56

Quite.

Any phrase that they do not wish to hear is labelled 'hate' and 'dog whistle' and rendered unspeakable as 'code' and other nonsense.

In essence: no language will be tolerated that is not wholly compliant and obedient.

Fuck that. The control issues of this political movement have long since hit the pathological stage.

nilsmousehammer · 22/11/2022 11:01

Although it's quite amusing really.

Dear govt.

You may have been confused by women writing to you arguing for their rights not to be stripped as we demand. So to help you:

If they say:

'no'
'we don't agree'
'other people have rights too'
'but the law says'
'get to fuck with that'
'are you effing kidding?'

It may sound as if they have a point! It might even sound as if they think you should stop and think for a second! Don't fall into the trap. It is a secret signal of code that means they belong to some underground cell. Ignore!! You should only ever believe people who say the messages we have pre approved first. In fact strike that, really, you should only ever believe and listen to us. Yay democracy and transparency and public duty!

Love and kisses

The Righteous

I've seen hints that link Gendered Intelligence to this, does anyone have any more detail on that?

I agree with this. Write to your own MP's about this and ask them to raise this with the Justice Minister, i.e. Raab.

If there is a Raab Constituent on Mumsnet willing to write him a letter, pressing him on what he intends to do regarding that document going forward, even better!

It wouldn't surprise me given that they were the co-authors of the original trans-biased EHRC guidelines for employers/service providers, which is why the TRAs have managed to convince everyone that the law explicitly says they have access to women's spaces except in exceptional circumstances.

Yes.

Part of the plan that goes 'assert outrageous lies loudly and convincingly and to the point everyone's so deafened and brainwashed that they believe them and follow THAT instead of actual law'.

Hence Baroness Nicolson's prod to government today asking do they intend to actually do anything real about this usurpation of their role and authority and enforce the laws of this country, or are they just overpaid decorations now who make noises but watch while political lobby groups do whatever they feel like?

The JKR has been seriously subjected to this dog--whistle theory, where they go through everything she says and say that it looks innocent enough but what she is really saying is...

Monstrous conduct

nilsmousehammer · 22/11/2022 16:01

The authoritarian mindset lays out the needs and desires that are appropriate to the role “parent,” and the needs and desires appropriate to the role “child.” As in all such dualities, the person in authority gets a great deal of leeway, and their subordinate is assigned a version of the human psyche that’s been pared down to fit neatly into their lesser role.

Article specific to the authoritarian follower personality in the dynamic of dyfunctional parent/child relationships but oh heck is it familiar.

Including the: you say that and I know you really mean this thing.

www.issendai.com/psychology/estrangement/estranged-parents-and-boundaries.html

The article on dysfunctional beliefs also rings huge, clanging bells.

I've been having a think about this coded language and everything basically meaning the opposite of what we say. If it's good for the goose and all that...

So the TRA s call us bigots, which means we are not.

They call us homophobic which means we are not

They call us transphobic which means we are not

Wanting us to suck parts of their anatomy means that they'd just like to shake our hand

Sending death threats means they want to go out on a date.

And they act really really angry but actually are overcome with joy.

Or, I don't know, both sides are actually saying what they think.

I think I need a lie down which actually translates to I'm just off to try and catch yet another mouse the sodding cat has brought into the house.

Such fun (most definitely not fun)

Boiled, sorry, Frozen x

nilsmousehammer · 23/11/2022 16:14

This is true.

We could quite easily come up with a list of 'code words' that mean unacceptable prejudice and should be banned.

I mean we've been clear about 'cis' for years, and this lexicon erasure looks at much more subtle microaggressions, so let's remove those from the discourse too shall we?

Right wing, I think, is definitely gone
any mention of kindness
inclusion
diversity

I'm sure we could knock up a list to ensure that no language is being weaponised as we discuss this difficult clash of wants and needs. (But both those words probably need to go too. And clash.)

However the screams of rage would be deafening at any attempt at reciprocation. And to paraphrase Issendai (who I am reading again, for nailing authoritarian follower patterns):

there is an assignation of unquestioned authority (which questioning is a misbehaviour) to the TQ+ political lobby, who have in turn assigned a very pared down limited, minimal kind of humanity to female people. Hence an absolute belief in entitlement to set rules and boundaries with no reciprocal need to follow the same themselves, and a belief that females questioning or refusing this are demonstrating their intrinsic badness and need for control and punishment.

deepwatersolo · 23/11/2022 18:16

In essence, applying TRAs‘ coded language standard, ‚transphobe‘ is a code word for ‚person who thinks women should be allowed to choose who to have sex with.‘
