An outrage. The bravery of women taking a stand in opressive patriarchal regimes is incredible. This is heart-breaking.

The Guardian is being a little optimistic with its headline, I fear. But Mahsa's brutal death is certainly not going unnoticed: www.theguardian.com/world/2022/sep/20/mahsa-aminis-brutal-death-may-be-moment-of-reckoning-iran

On Twitter, many posts about the Iran protests following Mahsa's death. They are happening in many cities across the country.

Men as well as women protesting.

I have some doubts it will bring any change but I stand with Iranians for trying. Women should be allowed to wear WTF they want.

ArabellaScott · 21/09/2022 07:20

I saw more protests. Brave, brave women.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 21/09/2022 09:40

the protests were covered on the bbc website this morning

I fear for the women involved. I wish there was something useful I could do

Yes, just heard an update on BBC Radio 4's PM (there was also a new report on today's Woman's Hour and a promise to keep covering the legacy of Mahsa's death).

"The protests, now in their seventh day, have reached 80 other cities and towns. A human rights group said at least 31 civilians had been killed, while state television put the death toll at 17."

Kudos to Mahsa and the other brave people fighting Iran's theocratic misogyny.
