IANAL but the Forstater judgement protects gender-critical belief. LGB Alliance is surely the charity for gender-critical LGB people whereas other charities exist for gender-oriented LGB people.

Is he saying the equality act is ambiguous so sex may not mean binary

That’s just not true.

the equality act says ‘a woman is a female of any age’.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 07/11/2022 12:52

Ok standing. This should be crucial huh?

nauticant · 07/11/2022 12:53

Could I tempt you over to thread 4 IdisagreeMrHochhauser?

"A person has the protected characteristic of gender reassignment if the person is proposing to undergo, is undergoing or has undergone a process (or part of a process) for the purpose of reassigning the person's sex by changing physiological or other attributes of sex."

Surely this says the person's sex is reassigned, not changed? So they are assigned female despite being male. That's not the same as saying 'sex is mutable'. Assigned sex can be changed as a process of legal fiction, not unlike AFAM/AMAB where a newborn is ambiguous. It doesn't change the actual sex, just the paperwork!

IcakethereforeIam · 07/11/2022 13:06

Oh, I do hate an unfilled thread!

More importantly, the "person [with] the protected characteristic of gender reassignment" has the "protected characteristic of gender reassignment" not "the protected characteristic of the sex that the legal fiction is stupidly implying"

IcakethereforeIam · 07/11/2022 13:24

Why Google when there's the arse end of a thread to use up?

Pyjamagame · 07/11/2022 13:25

Stat, used as a directive to medical personnel during in an emergency situation, is from the Latin word statim, which means “instantly” or “immediately.”
