My crappy mobile phone won't let me post a link, but glinner is reporting a class action lawsuit against the Tavistock with 1000+ claimants. Oh dear indeed.

As predicted by several of the posters on here it was inevitable when children's health and safeguarding was dismissed and ignored in favour of an ideology, it's an absolute scandal what has happened.

A number of other public and indeed private institutions and businesses better start bracing themselves for lawsuits and they'd be wise not to rely on the support of Stonewall or Mermaids et al, they won't see them for dust.

It will be interesting to see how many cases go forward.

The law firm Pogust Goodhead has since announced it is pursuing a group litigation order against the trust, which has treated 19,000 children with gender dysphoria (the feeling that one’s emotional and psychological identity differs from one’s birth sex) since 1989.

Former patients given puberty blockers are joining the “class action” lawsuit and papers are due to be lodged at the High Court within six months.

Those poor bloody families and their children. NHS has let them down so badly.

Teeny tiny violin playing a lament of pity for the Tavistock.

MangyInseam · 11/08/2022 02:41

I wonder if this will put a damper on some of this stuff in other countries too, as insurers get worried about covering doctors working with trans patients.

Article has disappeared. But there is a copy on way back, if you know what I mean.

Datun · 11/08/2022 05:48

Those poor children. This feels like a massive and permanent pivot from painting children 'coming out' as brave, important, special and even aspirational to used, manipulated, duped and badly served.

I recall lobby groups recommending celebrations at school, with cake and fun, for when children 'came out'. Fucking marketing it. Mermaids encouraging children to find them and their stall at Pride, using sweets and cute dogs. Then demanding GIDS prescribe drugs at younger and younger ages.

The edifice and artifice is collapsing all around. But the toll has been huge.

Fuuuckk

Article is still there. Definitely it is the law firm flying a kite - no proof yet of 1000 families, but they may well come when they are such a prominent article. The article references 19000 young people affected….almost every case a tragedy I fear.

It's still there for me.

I think the URL changed overnight. The original link redirects to times homepage.

But yes. There is a new share token link posted now.

Helleofabore · 11/08/2022 07:20

And the original link can be plugged into wayback still.

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 11/08/2022 07:20

I wish someone would sue Mermaids.

I remember it from the time, but the "sweeties" and the "cute puppy" thing still boggle me. They might as well have been offering them from the back of a transit van. Just step this way, little kiddies!!

How strange that the article has gone.
Was it factually incorrect?

No, I don't think the article itself ever moved. But the share token posted here became invalid for some reason.

Circumferences · 11/08/2022 08:35

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus that link directs me to the homepage.
Maybe I should just give in and pay a subscription....

Ah, sometimes that happens when a share token has been used extensively. I gather that the article has been archived in usual places.

Helleofabore · 11/08/2022 09:07

An exhausted share token would explain it. This article has been shared extensively across the world before the UK woke up.

The news has spread like wildfire.

best like for an archive. It will be like this all day.
