WIBU to tentatively say the end is nigh?

Just a few things running through my head while eating dinner
Maya’s ruling (well done Maya if you read this!)
the Cass report (which seems to have spooked the trans organisations)
the fact Stonewall and Mermaids have switched off all comments - like they know public opinion has turned
sports organisations finally seeing the light

theres a way to go but can I optimistically say the end is nigh?!

On the one hand: my teenage DD, after reading the ‘womb carriers’ Tweet started shouting ‘fuck off, just fuck off!!’ and quietly removed pronouns from her bio shortly after.

On the other hand: I tried to book a coil removal/replacement today and was first asked for my gender identity and then my ‘sex assigned at birth.’ On an NHS website.

We have a way to go yet.

Your daughter gives me hope.

RoyalCorgi · 07/07/2022 10:10

We'd be wise not to be too optimistic. We're very reliant on a) having a Tory government remain in place and b) having a Tory leader who stands up against the gender stuff. Although everyone is delighted that Boris is going, it could mean that all our gains so far are undermined if one of the genderists gets in. There are a surprising number in the Tory party.

And that's just government. Outside government we've got everyone else to deal with: universities, local authorities, NHS, judiciary, schools, police. They've all bought into the gender nonsense.

The other grounds for hope are the final report of the Cass Review, the litigation by TullipR against the NHS and the various court cases. Maya's victory is an enormous step in the right direction, but who knows how Allison Bailey's case will pan out?

I would have agreed with you if it wasn't for the fact that the Tories are in such a mess that Labour, or a coalition may well get in at the next election and make self id law!

Yes, this is what's really worrying me at the moment.

I think we're at the beginning of the end.

I don't think so but I think we might just have seen the end of the beginning.

The Genderists have:

Control of the Lib Dems, SNP and Greens.
Huge influence over Labour.
Huge influence in academia, social work, women's charities and the NHS, especially CAHMS.
Significant influence in sport, prisons, education and the police.

The UK is in a much better position than the rest of the Anglosphere so there will be big support for the Genderists here from North America.

What the recent victories have done is given us the tools to start unpicking the nonsense, bit by bit, in individual organisations. It took a long time and a lot of effort by a very determined group of people to convince so many of such foolishness, they are a long way from beaten.

If they get the amended GRC they want in the next parliament, it will take decades to undo the harm.

Now is the time to write to MPs again or to Ministers and Shadow Ministers or your council or leisure center or whoever. Keep pulling.

This. The genderists have burrowed deep and it will take a generation to undo the harm.

mirax · 07/07/2022 11:29

The beginning of the end is when all the mainstream women's organisations come to their senses.

teawamutu · 07/07/2022 12:09

This. This habitual Labour voter is willing the Tories to choose a sensible replacement because I'm fucking terrified of a Labour government.

I HATE THIS.

SouthernJurassic · 07/07/2022 12:10

Ditto. And I am furious that Labour are such a shit show.

The attempted quote disappeared - delighted Johnson going, v worried it might bring the Tories down before Labour regains grip on reality.

A surprising amount of people know nothing much about this issue at all. Hopefully if they’re only coming to it now they will get a more sceptical introduction than they would have done 2 years ago.

Theblondestoftheblonde · 07/07/2022 12:33

It'll take a while given that so many institutions are captured. The police, the judiciary, many government departments, politicians...

But yes, it seems there are more articles around about this nonsense and the tide is slowly starting to turn.

Theblondestoftheblonde · 07/07/2022 12:42

But there are reasons to be cheerful! Such as

Maya's ruling
JKR, and That Lunch

Plus all the people who keep banging the feminist / GC drum and bringing legal action. Now they truly are stunning and brave.

Raquel Rosaria Sanchez

I've thought this many times, each time a minister says 'no more nonsense' and yet the nonsense carries on.

So many government ministers don't even understand the issues and so can't actually do proper investigations into what has been going on. Starmer is absolutely hopeless whereas on paper he should be key to looking at this.

Clymene · 07/07/2022 12:52

Maya's win is huge. All of those organisations who have kicked women out or ostracised or no platformed people for expressing gender critical views are now on a sticky wicket.

We were gagged but we're not any more.

I think the Cass review will also have a huge impact.

Sunlight. We must keep going.

I wonder if there's a point at which people want to leave the option of ignorance open because it gives plausible deniability as cover for a journey over a golden bridge in the future?

If you:

  • do not look at an issue in-depth

  • can handwave that you were given very partial briefings in the past and that you had relied upon them but now realise etc.…

I wonder if Starmer and many others with power and influence are reserving their options in this way.

Eyes on the prize. Keep that golden bridge gleaming in all of this new sunlight. Lay out the welcome mat.

Wouldloveanother · 07/07/2022 13:04

The vigour with which people like LOJ defend the gender identity movement, and their flat refusal to even consider it is anything other than enlightening and liberating, is feeling less and less convincing - they’ve nailed their colours to the mast and they need the movement to be successful now, for their own reputations.

There’s been a couple of tentative GC articles in the Guardian recently so it will be interesting to see who he chooses - his Twitter mob or his pay packet.

A labour government is different from a labour opposition.
Quite simply, they cannot just accept TWAW because of the way it throws woman under the bus.

I would even think the Scottish Govt might not get fully away with what they want.

Blackandwhitehorse · 07/07/2022 16:06

I’m not sure, my employer has only just started on this and basically told us today we won’t have single sex spaces anymore.

I also think there is a massive amount to unpick. I reckon it could take up to 10 years.

I think Sex Matters will send them some literature if you ask them to.

Employers need to start being worried about legal cases and women bringing them.

Does anyone on this thread have an account on the New Zealand bird farming site?

Definitely some threads worth watching on there.

BlackForestCake · 07/07/2022 21:54

Even if self-ID is passed, that will not be the end.

Because men still won't be women.
