Boris Johnson speaks again

achillestoes · 27/06/2022 06:48

He says if you’re born with a penis you’re a man. He reiterates his three concerns about trans issues: Gillick competence for children receiving transitioning treatments, women’s spaces, sports. He says we need to treat people with sensitivity but he sees no reason to dissent from what FINA say is appropriate in women’s swimming.

These comments are reported in the Daily Mail and he made them on his Rwanda trip.

‘And you believe Johnson will achieve more?’

I believe he already has.

Starmer can’t tell you what a woman is

He is a mealy-mouthed coward

the alternative to Johnson is no better and at least he has the guts to speak the truth

achillestoes · 27/06/2022 08:26

I mean, well done to the trans rights activists. I was firmly left wing for thirty years. I voted for Blair, Brown, Miliband and Corbyn. Now I vote for Johnson, Kemi Badenoch, Liz Truss, and yes, it means they’ve driven me to the right. Slow clap.

‘suspect you could have a more sensible and open debate with him though.’

I’m sure Starmer would stand there and hear you out with that dopey grin on his face. But afterwards he still wouldn’t do anything about adolescent transitioning.

This. He'd make the right noises but remain in the pocket of the TRAs so far as actions go.

I'm going to need to see something concrete before I vote for him again.

sashagabadon · 27/06/2022 08:28

Boris talking about it a few weeks ago and reaffirming his position recently has meant this issue is not an internal culture war within the Tory party. They can answer the what is a woman question confidently ( hence it goes away as an issue for them and they can move beyond it) That in itself is enough. For labour this will remain a problem as they cannot answer this question confidently as their leader can’t. That makes Boris a leader and Keir not a leader on this issue.

Live4weekend · 27/06/2022 08:33

So have they figured out people are done with #nodebate.

So have now moved on to #wrongtimefordebate ?

I think this is an accurate interpretation.

Any politician that says that women have penises, or that TWAW, or men can be Lesbians, or that biological sex doesn't exist or matter is a Liar.

So we have dozens of politicians, including the majority of the shadow cabinet and it's leader Kier Starmer, joining the Prime Minister being on public record as Liars.

And as people are keen to point out about Boris Johnson, once you show yourself as a Liar on one thing, who the hell should trust you on anything else you say.

I will never vote for any politician that lies about bioligical reality, who is willing to betray women and their sex based rights and to sacrifice our children's safeguarding on the alter of identity ideology. Whatever their political affiliation.

HappyHappyHermit · 27/06/2022 08:46

Johnson has done nothing except lie, there are still men in womens prisons etc, he hasn't actually done anything about that despite being in power for some time now. I do think other parties would at least be considering third spaces or something. I couldn't vote Tory either way, they have lied and lied, all but destroyed education t,he NHS and the economy. They are allowing a masochistic bullying selfish man child to remain in charge and that shows that they do not care about this country. Any man who treats women as he has done in his life should not be making decisions for a whole country full of women. We should be led by example. My opinion though, I appreciate that we can have these fora to debate these issues without aggression or being silenced.

Absolutely, and you’re free to vote for someone else to try to get that. My conscience won’t allow me to vote for anyone who doesn’t stand up against childhood transition.

Obama promised women in the US that he would confirm their right to abortion, that it would be one of the first things he'd do when he attained office.

We know how that turned out. I have no reason to have confidence in UK politicians.

We can not put our trust in the rhetoric of politicians. I feel this is a counsel of despair and I trust none of them which is desperate.

achillestoes · 27/06/2022 08:53

There’s no appetite to overturn the right to an abortion in the UK. There are about ten votes in it.

Starmer is not PM and I haven't seen enough of him to decide, I suspect you could have a more sensible and open debate with him though.

Labour women's declaration have had to beg for him to even meet with them. I think Starmer is happy to make a fool of himself in media interviews as long as he doesn't have to look women in the face and repeat the same lies.

MarshaBradyo · 27/06/2022 08:53

I cannot trust anyone who says female and includes man, having tray written further into law worries me a huge amount

As US has shown us rights can be further removed in a day and take decades to get back

achillestoes · 27/06/2022 08:54

‘Labour women's declaration have had to beg for him to even meet with them.’

Then he said he would and hasn’t.

I saw a Biden tweet from 2019 saying the same thing. What was the executive order he signed on his first day in office?

achillestoes · 27/06/2022 08:55

As for a more sensible debate with Starmer, he literally said we shouldn’t say only women have cervices. Johnson has never sounded more sensible than he does today.

They don't care about women's issues to actually do anything, they're just hot air. They are happy enough for rape to be decriminalised by the back door. This Tory party is no friend of women, but they'll say anything to keep the flames of the culture wars burning.

They have produced two women Prime Ministers.

achillestoes · 27/06/2022 09:00

The other day I was listening to Harriet Harman talking about female Tory PMs. It was pointed out that the Tories have twice elected a female leader. ‘But they did it by out-manning the men,’ she said.

What does that even mean?

Women can’t implement certain policies?

odd remark

From her…

IvyTwines · 27/06/2022 09:04

If Labour activists monitor these boards as fervently as trans activists do, hello, I'm a former Labour party member of decades standing, on the Left of the party but not the 'Momentum' Left, and I quit over this issue. I know how hard women struggled to give me, a woman, the right to vote and I would love to have a party I felt safe voting for, but right now I don't. Your stance on this issue is a gift to any party that simply states reality and biological fact to remind us how far down the misogynistic, homophobic, fantasy-world rabbit hole you have gone. I hope you see sense and start acting like adults again before the children I know whose parents are caught up in this ideology have irreversible operations.

Starmer is not PM and I haven't seen enough of him to decide, I suspect you could have a more sensible and open debate with him though. Johnson has proven he is a liar and cannot be trusted. He treats women like dirt on his shoes.

Starmer wants to be PM though and yet he cannot or will not tell you what a woman is. He inspires no confidence that were he to become PM we would be in a better position and this after his legal knowledge and previous job.

Boris lies WE KNOW yet he will tell you a woman is exactly who shes always been and as he currently is in charge he is or his party is the one we campaign to or at. We stand a chance with current party, no chance with labour.
Boris treats women like fuck buddies, starmer has no idea which of us is women.
