I told a bunch of men if they support this I hope they are committed to life long abstinence and celibacy because even within marriage there’s no guarantee someone won’t get terminally ill, or the fetus won’t be viable, or the mother’s life won’t be in danger so they’re best to avoid abortion by keeping their dicks to themselves and they all were enraged. Shows you whose responsibility they think pregnancy is.

‘Some posters on this thread need to take a long hard look at themselves.’

A lot of people need to take a long hard look at themselves. I judge people on their actions.

There is a thread up right now of people begging for Posie Parkers ban to be lifted.

Posie Parker who met with The Heritage Foundation.

There are threads singing the praises of Liz Truss, who regularly dines with The Heritage Foundation.

Some posters on this thread need to take a long hard look at themselves.

Can we just not, please. Purity spirals are a distraction. Liz Truss isn't trying to reverse abortion access in the UK. She's a mainstream politician.

FannyCann · 24/06/2022 21:10

India has banned USG to determine sex of the unborn child. It has been like this for years, precisely to avoid female foeticide.
In my experience, doctors do not divulge this information easily.

Thanks. Happy to be corrected @ProfessorLayton1

Who do you think you are? Lots of us understand ideological purity has got us to where we are now and it's not helpful. Feel free to continue insisting on it if you must but many of us can see it's unsustainable and worry about the backlash.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/06/2022 21:18

Thanks for your posts, Misstache, good to have the context.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/06/2022 21:21

Still, I'm looking forward to the fall out when those men who rent women's wombs discover that when the baby has an abnormality they can't make the woman have an abortion or when all three or four embryos they had transferred have implanted and they want two or three "reduced" they can't. That's fertility equality for you.

Would they be responsible for the babies? I assumed there would be a get out clause.

FannyCann · 24/06/2022 21:27

Ha. Who needs one of those when you can just fail to collect?

Waitwhat23 · 24/06/2022 21:28

Twitter is depressingly full of posts which basically amount to 'keep your legs shut then!'. No thought to women having to make the heartbreaking choice to end much wanted pregnancies due to medical reasons incompatible with life, or women who have been raped, or women having their lives put in danger for an unviable fetus (like the current case in Malta), or women being co-erced by their partners or any of the reasons why women make the choice to have an abortion. It's reducing women to walking incubators who entirely loose their own bodily autonomy if they happen to find themselves pregnant. It's a system to control women, pure and simple..

It's horrifying.

Just saw a tweet telling American women to all delete their period tracking apps. Chilling...

It’s scary that under the umbrella of the anti-gender movement, right-wing actors are uniting in opposition to women’s rights, reproductive freedoms, and democracy…

‘Twitter is depressingly full of posts which basically amount to 'keep your legs shut then!'

They don’t even mean it. They mean, ‘open your legs when we want you to, and not when we don’t.’ Like dolls.

Almost like we should be supporting women’s rights, reproductive freedoms, and democracy.

@Ravenclawdropout Decisions on abortion now return to State Government. They can choose whether or not to allow abortions to be legal within that particular state. There is now no overarching Federal right. Imagine if decisions on whether or not a child received an education; or whether rape was a crime just sat with State government and not an overall national law.

Women will be very badly affected by this decision; and a fundamental right to healthcare has been removed

Very we said.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 24/06/2022 22:18

We remember what the ACLU did to Bader Ginsberg's words about abortion.

Feminism is a political practice of fighting male supremacy in behalf of women as a class, including all the women you don't like, including all the women you don't want to be around, including all the women who used to be your best friends whom you don't want anything to do with anymore. It doesn't matter who the individual women are. They all have the same vulnerability to rape, to battery, as children to incest. Poorer women have more vulnerability to prostitution, which is basically a form of sexual exploitation that is intolerable in an egalitarian society, which is the society we are fighting for.

And so, Handmaid’s Tale became a documentary.

I am even more furious at the women like Shappi Khorsandi, Emma Watson and their male brethren Mark Steel, Mark Thomas, Billy Bragg etc who openly support the removal of female only spaces, the removal of the word woman and the whole Trans rights cult, who then act so surprised and outraged that this has happened. It’s as if they cannot see that erasing women is completely linked to the erasure of fundamental human rights for the female sex. It’s not fucking rocket science. The left deserted women and here is the outcome.

Am heartbroken and furious that other women cannot see this issue, that many more women will die agonising deaths/ be mutilated/ have their fertility irreversibly damaged and / or be subject to prosecution. Just woken up to the news and am angry at a totally new scale.

Wow, I can see why though.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 24/06/2022 22:28

I (used to) follow a Christian instagram. I just unfollowed it tonight after seeing a post praising this, calling for the church to support women and the unwanted children now to be born, and the comments were full of cheers, hearts, and yay adoption posts. The glee at the new adoption opportunities to be created was utterly sickening, and eye opening in equal measure. 😢

achillestoes · 24/06/2022 22:36

‘The glee at the new adoption opportunities to be created was utterly sickening, and eye opening in equal measure.’

Just vile. Adoption should be what happens when someone needs a home and a family. It’s not a service and children are not a commodity.

TheBiologyStupid · 24/06/2022 23:04

The unborn take priority over the host they are parasitising until they're born; then all interest in their right to life is lost and instead transferred to the right of a dude to own a gun. I think that's the actual USian priorities on these issues?

achillestoes · 24/06/2022 23:10

What I really don’t understand is, aren’t many of these people the same people who agree with the death penalty?

PomegranateOfPersephone · 24/06/2022 23:14

Adoption in the US is a racket, little different from surrogacy. There is more money to be made from selling babies than there is from selling abortion pills that is that sad truth. Money drives everything in the US, it is unfettered capitalism.

Women dying of ectopic pregnancy, women in prison for losing a much wanted pregnancy through miscarriage or still birth, women dying from botched back street abortions, the Irish mother and baby home scandal all over again on a massive scale, traumatised mothers and babies.

Will the pro “life” men and women stand by their decision when they watch their own daughters die slowly because doctors can’t/won’t treat them for ectopic pregnancy until the embryo has no detectable heartbeat as happened in Ireland and Poland? Why is an embryo worth more than a woman? It is only possible to save the mother, why refuse to do it? Why let her die?

Oh and deleting period apps won’t be enough. Don’t discuss anything incriminating online or via any messaging app. Your phones will betray you. They can totally be used as the eyes and ears of the state.

I often wonder why those motivated by morality don’t focus their efforts on the sex industry, why aren’t they praying outside brothels, strip clubs etc, stopping men from entering, preventing them from buying the bodies of trafficked women, protesting against pornography, why not stop men from behaviour which is considered sinful??? I think I know the answer to that.

If they are pro life are they also pro gun? Pro capital punishment? How do they square those circles?

FemmeNatal · 24/06/2022 23:16

achillestoes · 24/06/2022 23:10

It’s a consistent view when looked at through the lens of innocence / guilt.

The unborn are viewed as completely innocent, so must be protected. An adult who has erred, or sinned, is no longer innocent, so must be punished.

achillestoes · 24/06/2022 23:21

‘The unborn are viewed as completely innocent, so must be protected. An adult who has erred, or sinned, is no longer innocent, so must be punished.’

Which I appreciate. But isn’t the punishment meant to be in the next life, not this one?

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 24/06/2022 23:32

It’s absolutely terrifying. DH works for an American company who have just announced that as part of medical insurance package they now include up to $10,000 travel funds for abortion. While I support the concept the thought that women have to travel to get basic medical care in a ‘developed’ country is abhorrent.
