Ivy is very upset that the interviewer think transwomen are not male.

Not sure why they are interviewing VI.

Ivy’s life partner was a paedophile iirc.

Justin Fletcher as in Mr Tumble?

Blush Justin Webb (I keep misnaming him, some sort of mental block)

Oh that gave me a proper laugh though.

I noticed that she thought it was fine to say ‘Cis’ this and ‘Cis’ that. Is there not any recognition that this is actively offensive?

I realise the interviewer could not have stopped her though without disrupting the flow of the discussion.

nepeta · 09/04/2022 16:52

'Cis' is really offensive on so many grounds:

  1. It is forced on us so that others can define themselves against it.
  2. It turns the globally still oppressed sex class 'women and girls' into the more privileged sub-class of the new identity class 'women and girls.'
  3. Hidden behind its use as 'just means not transitioned' is its real definition which is that it is also based on an abstract gender identity, but one which 'happens' to correlate with one's biological sex.

Point 3. is a crucial one as that is what justifies the assertion that writing about female biology as only applying to 'women and girls' is exclusive: Why favour one abstract gender identity over others?

But most crucially, it erases the existence of the group 'women and girls' who accept those labels because they are biologically female.

I think you are thinking of Amy Challenor. For the sake of not being accused of exaherating he wasn't actually a convicted, pedophile he just like to write pedophillic fiction.

Crcohetmonster · 09/04/2022 18:29

No. Ivys partner was a registered child sex offender.

WhereYouLeftIt · 09/04/2022 18:55

I've put a transcript of the whole Nick / Veronica / Sharron interviews on the other thread.

Yet another complaint to the BBC coming on….

Why on earth does Ivy get airtime on the BBC? This morning was bad enough but now Woman’s Hour extending an invitation? FFS!!!

No, no, no! We should be congratulating the BBC for platforming such "diverse" perspectives. Dont you see that the more sunlight is poured onto the batshit mental ravings of these headbangers (who, to a man-and it is usually men-spout this garbage as if it were the plainest common sense) the more your average listener will be looking at the radio with a WTF? expression as if it had retuned itself to planet zog?
DomesticatedZombie · 09/04/2022 19:34

People like Veronica make the best case possible for women's rights.

I still recall hearing Monroe Bergdorf telling women not to 'centre vaginas' on the women's march.

All downhill from there.

Timefortea4 · 09/04/2022 19:44

I want to complain to the BBC but they require a full name and address. I don't feel safe providing that.

TheAbbotOfUnreason · 09/04/2022 19:50

The BBC allowing the likes of Veronica Ivy and Grace Lavery to spout their misogynistic anti-women gender woo to an audience of millions is doing a great job. Especially when challenged by women like Sharron Davies and Emma Barnett.

Indeed.

As the old saying goes, "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."

Trampitt · 09/04/2022 20:10

Veronica, Rachel and even Rhys are nothing more or less than a bad joke.

IsitM · 09/04/2022 20:42

I’ll still be complaining.
The BBC are treating women with utter disdain and no doubt paying a fee for these men to spout their bile. Not to mention the fact they are being ‘validated’ as women.... no doubt they will be enjoying that.

@Crcohetmonster

Fuck a duck, why do the BBC keep giving him money?

Do you have a link, I feel the need for yet another complaint.

Crcohetmonster · 10/04/2022 01:02

I can’t link as it’s to a site which would probably be an instant ban form here

NotBadConsidering · 10/04/2022 01:40

I hope Emma Pearce gets Ivy on and asks Ivy about Ivy’s bullying of a teenage girl:
