KJK in Nottingham Today

Me and a friend went along to this Regional Speaker's Corner event today. I was surprised there weren't more protesters, to be honest.

It was great to meet KJ in the flesh, she is truly awesome.

The weather was foul, so the event wasn't as long as the Reformer's Tree ones, the attached video is under 40 minutes long

This part of the livestream - starts at 11.08 ish - where the two TW behind her do not know what to do with themselves. It almost looks the penny begins to drop for cream hat TW. I don't think they are used to being told that they are anything other than stunning and brave.

This protester told a speaker who shared their experience of sexual assault that she was "playing victim".

My favourite bit was KJK telling one of them to shut up. She looked like she'd been told off by her mum. FAF

His parents must be so proud.

I spent some time talking to a young TM. We had a perfectly civil conversation but it left me feeling very sad.

I live in Nottingham - I'm glad I decided to stay at home

Hasselhoffsheadband · 13/02/2022 19:18

The best bit was the two TRAs in the bobble hats behind Kellie Jay - they clearly incredulous that Kellie would be so rude and obviously have never been spoken to like that by a woman before. Their faces were priceless!

Datun · 13/02/2022 19:39

I'm sure it's highly irritating, but it's actually quite effective engaging them in conversation and ask them questions. Because they've got fuck all. And it shows.

FemaleAndLearning · 13/02/2022 19:40

It was great to meet so many like minded people in the flesh. The activists were like toddlers and seemed to be directed by the middle aged man in the red jacket.
Posie was brilliant and the best thing? I now have met real people I can meet up locally to share information, discuss issues, share books, plan activism and have a good natter. ,"Let women talk" was such a powerful counter protest to trans rights are human rights.
The activists were asked what rights they wanted and the only thing they could think of was the right not to be murdered. Posie calmly told them the stats and someone tried to bring Brazil into it and she told them straight it was zero (since 2009, I couldn't hear very well) in the UK compared to 3 women a week.

I'm so glad I went and look forward to hearing about more regional events.

I did laugh when someone in the crowd shouted to the activists to go home and do their homework. I would be very cross if I was the mother of that boy who shouted "stop being a victim" to the wonderful woman who spoke about her rape. Rape that took place not because she identified as a woman but because she is a woman.

sacredfeminina · 13/02/2022 20:20

I love Kellie so much she is so fucking straight, i aspire to be like that. How is everyone finding out where she is going? Does she have a mailing list?

FemaleAndLearning · 13/02/2022 20:50

She mentioned the Nottingham one on her nightly u tube and I also got an email from her last week. I must have signed up.

NancyDrawed · 13/02/2022 20:52

sacredfeminina I sometimes catch her youtube videos and she mentioned this on one a week or so back.

I know that it's possible to become a member of Standing for Women - I suppose there might be more info about this sort of thing on there. Or perhaps on the SFW facebook page?

That's a shame, it was a fun day out overall.
lovelyweathertoday · 13/02/2022 21:17

Despite the shouting on the video it was largely good natured and conversations were held off camera. Very peaceful. We need more of this.

BattyOrange · 13/02/2022 21:25

The trans contingent were completely outclassed by the passion of the wonderful women who spoke, those who stood in the wind and the rain listening or chanting and the wit and humour of KJK. It was marvellous to see.

augustusglupe · 13/02/2022 21:40

Watched it earlier. Kellie and all the women who spoke were wonderful and eloquent.
The TWAW supporters were so out of their depth it was embarrassing.

Imnobody4 · 13/02/2022 21:41

I live near Nottingham - didn't know this was happening or would have gone.

picklemewalnuts · 13/02/2022 21:55

I don't know whether I would have gone. I'm glad it happened though. I was relieved that I didn't recognise anyone in the TRA crowd- there are a lot of my friends who are passionately proclaiming identity is all about how you feel, and so many young sisters I know have suddenly become 'big brothers' and young men. Desperately sad.

RVN123 · 13/02/2022 22:13

I watched the live stream from home with my headphones on, as DH watching the TV.
I got very choked up and a bit tearful at one of the women who was speaking, think DH wondered what I was watching.

The imbeciles behind KJK just looked like stupid inarticulate props to be honest, they didn't have anything remarkable to say and had no answer for what "trans rights" they wanted. With their pathetic cardboard signs.

I'm in awe of the women who spoke THE TRUTH.
How embarrassing for those absolute plonkers.

Also to the very young girl who spoke at the end - you give me hope that not everyone has swallowed the KoolAid.

littlbrowndog · 13/02/2022 22:23

What a woman Kellie is. I admire her so much

DomesticatedZombie · 13/02/2022 23:14

Brave women, moving speeches. Well done.

iamreally · 14/02/2022 00:04

Gutted I didn't know about this as live locally and would have been there to support

MiladyBerserko · 14/02/2022 18:07

Where's she going next, anyone know?

SunniDelite · 14/02/2022 18:12

I felt a bit sorry for blond bobblehat. I thought they were going to cry.... No doubt believing they were passing...
But no surrender! Go JKJ!

NancyDrawed · 14/02/2022 18:27

From a distance, peach hat was very clearly male, blond hat less obvious - but the entitled behaviour and voice gave them away.

Having watched this again, when the woman in the purple top jumps down from the step and slips, peach hat looked to be offering a hand to help her up at least, and a voice that sounds like blond hat says 'don't help her!' so I wouldn't feel too sad for their hurt feelings!

KJK is coming to Manchester, I think it's in May. I'll post again when I find the actual date

@SunniDelite

I wouldn't waste my sympathy on blond bobblehat; I arrived very early, might actually have been first there (taxi cock-up) just before KJK, but all the TRA's were already there, and BB was pretty damn aggressively bullying to me (60 yr old disabled woman with walking stick) when the numbers were in their favour, until first KJK arrived and deflected the bullying of BB and then more women arrived and the ratio of GC to TRAs reversed..
