A group of us are coming up from Somerset. So important to stand up for vulnerable women! Hoping to meet lots of lovely Mumsnetters!!

Goatsaregreat · 08/02/2022 18:43

Good. This dangerous misogynistic policy needs all the publicity possible.

Clymene · 08/02/2022 18:53

Thanks for the heads up. Am in Covid jail so can't make it but will share in groups x

CorrBlimeyGG · 08/02/2022 18:58

Aren't you going to the protest against the cost of living crisis, asking the government to urgently tackle inequality? That affects hundreds of thousands of vulnerable people, mostly women. Starts at midday at Parliament Square, with solidarity protests across the country.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 08/02/2022 19:00

Women!! Your problems most always wait until ALL the other problems are protested and solved first 🙄

TheCurrywurstPrion · 08/02/2022 19:08

Good luck All. Wish I could join you but I will have to live vicariously through your photos and videos.

Aren’t you doing what I, a biologically male person, think you female people should be doing?

So hard for you to accept the existence of disobedient women.

But, alas for you, we will not submit to your control. Hope you have a wonderful time on the protest you want to go on, and even more I hope you learn not to try to make decisions for other people that aren’t you - even if those people are but lowly females!

Just imagine us being able to think for ourselves, and even make our own choices, with our pink, sparkly little ladybrains.

Mindblowing, isn’t it.

RoaringtoLangClegintheDark · 08/02/2022 19:30

Looking forward to going, myself Wink

You don't think cost of living and inequality are women's problems? They affect every woman I know, much more universally and profoundly than the existence of trans people affects them.
MsGoodenough · 08/02/2022 19:37

Ooh I might be able to go to this. (I also care about the cost of living. Amazing that my lady brain can care about more than one thing at once).

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 08/02/2022 19:37

Keep Prisons Single Sex aren’t organising this protest, but there is a lot of useful info about the current situation on their website. kpssinfo.org/

I think you should also ask your husbands’ views on this topic too, because they might think it’s a silly thing to protest about and don’t forget you’d have to be back to make the dinner.

Don't worry. There's at least two other posters on this thread going to the inequality one so they can represent FWR on our behalf.

I'll look forward to their reports and photos of the event. That way we can support both protests. Smile

The policing is strong on this one.

What a strange way to live.

Great idea!

Will also ask him if I am allowed to be concerned about multiple issues at once, if he will give me some money to sow some carrots, and what my opinion should be on females being imprisoned with males.

Have I missed anything? You know my womanly brain can't hold many thoughts at once.

What excellent advice.

Seems like a good time to post this old favourite again - seeing as some people don’t seem to have got the memo that it’s satire, otherwise known as A Joke; and apparently think it’s a useful guide for life:

Could you explain what this has to do with the price of fish?

I've gone to lots of marches and protests. Only ever been asked 'what about' when it's a women's issue. You can care about variously criminal justice, poll tax, equal marriage, South Africa and animals rights all at the same time (and I did) but woe betide you if you try to care about a woman's issue. Then you should have to do this thing x first. For some reason.

No. That would be a cost of living protest. It’s obviously something you feel strongly about. Feel free to organise your own protest.

Enjoy your march. I take it you don't care much about women being forced to share with born males in prisons.

If I go to one it will be the MOJ one.

☺️

Come on Helleofabore your husband will remind you gently that of course you’d be allowed to, it’s just that you’re not capable of it. Now wouldn’t you like to sit down and do some sewing?

Yogipineapple123 · 08/02/2022 20:47

Is there likely to be conflict at this protest? I would like to show my support but I’m worried about it getting out of hand.

Any protest has that risk. I was kettled as a young un! Really scary.

However you can do some things to protect yourself. Wearing very sensible shoes is my favourite! Stay away from troublemakers. They're fairly obvious. Stay nearish to the police and chat to them. Know a few ways to get back to public transport. Alleyways and cut-throughs. Leave earlier than the end. That kind of thing.
