@CorrBlimeyGG

Aren't you going to the protest against the cost of living crisis, asking the government to urgently tackle inequality? That affects hundreds of thousands of vulnerable people, mostly women. Starts at midday at Parliament Square, with solidarity protests across the country.
No.

But have fun.

Helleofabore · 08/02/2022 21:09

your husband will remind you gently that of course you’d be allowed to, it’s just that you’re not capable of it. Now wouldn’t you like to sit down and do some sewing?

Of course. SwissBall. Of course. I need to remember my place in the world.

GuidingforDummies · 08/02/2022 21:12

You don't think cost of living and inequality are women's problems? They affect every woman I know, much more universally and profoundly than the existence of trans people affects them.

Don't you care about women being raped and abused in prisons, a place where they are at their most vulnerable?

RoaringtoLangClegintheDark · 08/02/2022 21:58

@tabletopgreen

The policing is strong on this one.

What a strange way to live.

It is, isn’t it.

Kind of tragic, to be a sort of modern day Inquisitor, ever on the lookout for signs of heresy and wrongthink, constantly chiding those who do not follow your religion for their unpardonable lack of belief. And of course setting yourself up as some kind of infallible moral authority, unalive to the bigotry and hatred lurking within your own bosom.

Strange compulsion indeed.

DomesticatedZombie · 08/02/2022 22:09

Oh, this is the thread for Male Instructions? Thank goodness! I nearly went and did a load of stuff off my own bat using my silly ole ladybrain!

GG can you please give me a full timetable of what I should be doing this weekend, where I should be going and what pressing issues I should be considering? Advice on outfits and posture would also be helpful!

I shall await further instruction. Thanks. Smile

TheFnozwhowasmirage · 09/02/2022 20:06

Domesticated Zombie I can't help with your timetable, clothing ect,as I too have been cursed with the tiny ladybrain. But I can help with the 'posture' question. You should definitely assume the head tilt. All ladies do that,it's how we signal that we are ladies on the rare occasions that glitter, handbags, pink clothing and skin tight clothing are unavailable. I know this because men who have the ladyfeelz always do the head tilt.

Ides · 09/02/2022 20:24

Although only 1% of the women in women's prisons are transwomen, CorrBlimeyGG, it only takes one person, born male, to oppress all the women around her. That's what makes this such an urgent issue.

Yep. Fervently puritanical zealots.

Yes that's what they are protesting the existence of trans people, not a group of trans people specifically removed from society because they are convicted sex offenders being thrown in with the most vulnerable women who have no means of escape from them.

I wish I could be there this weekend, I can't make this one.
To people worried, I've been to a couple of these protests now (not organised by KPSS, but with many of the same attendees) and I have to say these women are very welcoming, it's a very diverse group young to old. I went to the last protest knowing no one and I had a great time.

This. Saturday isn’t organised by KPSS either but many of the women there will be old hands, and friendly and welcoming to newcomers.

Although I can’t guarantee the right degree of head tilt.

Oh for goodness sake, how can I know they're women if they're not head tilting properly? They could be cats.

Can't there be training courses on how to woman properly and appropriately? Books on what thoughts to think and how to dress? Although not sure how anyone's supposed to know by this point that they are someone who should be head tilting and thinking as they're told, as apparently biology isn't relevant to this position of subservience? I have a horrible feeling that by this point I'm probably a plant, or a small coffee table or something.

Would dearly love to come along, I am passionately angry about these poor women and the 'yes but a few women raped doesn't matter in the light of male people getting what they want and Boris being a twit....'

You have to be an absolute monster to believe that these women and what they are being subjected to is nothing important.

DomesticatedZombie · 09/02/2022 22:41

Fnoz thanks am tilting now. Makes typing quite hard.

Good on everyone who can make it.

Of course women in the Brave New Republic of Scotland are not permitted to attend this type of protest as we're all required to stay at home at the weekend in case our overlords require snacks or support for furthering their causes which are all of course on the Right Side of History and much more important than any silly distracting feminist ideas.

Yogipineapple123 · 10/02/2022 07:59

Thanks for the reassurance! If not organised by KPSS, who is it organised by? I saw a video that Glinner shared - is it them?

BlackeyedSusan · 10/02/2022 09:22

Could you explain what this has to do with the price of fish?

Grin I know, I know, a saying, but pretty funny to come after a quotation about a protest on the cost of living

It's just like there's a strategy. Bigot and terf have lost their meaning so now we are going to accuse you of not caring about the poor, without actually considering that a lot of the women in prison are poor, vulnerable, etc.

You see it on the "Would you vote Labour?" threads. If you don't vote Labour you don't care about the poor, apparently.

Nrtft. Going back to read more now.

Plasmodesmata · 10/02/2022 09:33

this sums it up I think.

No specific organisation - it’s a steering committee of women who are experienced in organising protests, both individuals and from a variety of groups. I don’t follow Glinner so don’t know what he shared.

goddamnit there was a very interesting article a few years ago. Written by a woman who ran a men's health charity. Then [from memory] she started a women's health charity.

She could not believe the attacks and whataboutery she faced. When running the men's charity there had been no negative comments. But the women's charity attracted all the 'but what about the men'.

So annoying - I cannot find it. Anyone else remember it? I am sure I found it though Mumsnet.

This was such an egregious example that it reminded me.

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 10/02/2022 17:19

Every time I’ve ever tweeted about FGM I’ve got ‘ what about the men.’

Once I even found an American bloke the link to a US charity campaigning against male circumcision. If he’d genuinely wanted to get involved he could have found it himself in five minutes. Hmm

Bumping for anyone who can come tomorrow.

I’ve heard that Julia Long will be there, so if you like singing…

There was a woman on the Today Programme a couple of years ago complaining about how much attention and money breast cancer charities receive versus prostate cancer ones. Don't suppose it occurred to her that grass roots campaigning and fundraising by women for a condition that mostly (but not exclusively) effects women might be the cause of this. And that there was absolutely nothing to stop men doing the same for a condition that only effects men.

Yes, I remember it - it's this one I think?

Artichokeleaves · 11/02/2022 13:50

And this was a previous thread on the article:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3129007-Enlightening-article-on-whataboutery

As the article says - it is not necessary to centre men and males in every single conversation about females. Conversations that don't focus on males are valid too.

NonnyMouse1337 · 12/02/2022 00:24

Good luck with the protest. Hope there's a good turnout...... and dinosaurs!

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 12/02/2022 14:27

I’m stuck at home with Covid so couldn’t make it Angry but I hear it’s a big success. Although no dinosaurs.

Just back from protest. First time in about 30 years I have done anything like that, but I am So glad I went. Aghast to hear the accounts of what is happening in jails in the UK. It is madness.
