Dear everyone,

Hope you are well.

As you may know, the trial for my legal case against the University of Bristol will take place next week from February 7th to February 14th 2022 (with the first day being a reading day for the judge). My case is mainly about sex discrimination and negligence. We are claiming that the University has a number of policies and practices that prioritize trans activism over women's rights. These policies are unnecessary and they are particularly harmful for women, because it is overwhelmingly women who campaign for sex-based rights.

It was extremely challenging for me to be so open and vulnerable writing it because I prefer to be far more reserved, but I understand how important it is for this legal process that I was as transparent as possible so I now am particularly keen for you to read my Witness Statement, if you can and are interested.

Once these documents are referred to in open court and available to the public, I will upload my Witness Statement on this link: www.raquelrosariosanchez.com/witness-statement. And I will also upload my Particulars of Claim, Skeleton Argument and Final Submissions on this link:
www.raquelrosariosanchez.com/legal-documents.

I am determined to get as much rest before the trial as possible, but I wanted to take a moment to speak directly to you because I am so grateful for all your kind words and support throughout all this. Hopefully, I will spend this weekend on a very long hike in the countryside, finishing a lovely historical novel and binge watching Harry Potter. But I've decided to take about an hour or so to come here on Sunday morning and answer any questions you may have. If you don't have a questions, but just want to share a message, feel free to do that as well. Please write your questions or comments by Sunday 8am.

You can learn more about my legal case by listening to this podcast on The Critic with author Julie Bindel: thecritic.co.uk/julie-bindel-in-conversation-with-raquel-rosario-sanchez/

You can also read an interview I did with journalist Peter Stanford for
The Telegraph : www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/student-forced-standing-women/

We will be asking the judge for permission to live tweet, and if we are allowed, the hashtag will be #RaquelvBristolUni and the main account will be @TribunalTweets, both other members of the public are welcomed to livetweet if they want to.

Speak soon and thank you!
Raquel

@raquelrosariosanchez it must have been so tough today. We were all routing for you though x

Iwishihadariver · 08/02/2022 22:00

Huge respect also to Dr Emma Williamson for her support. I thought her public statement was eloquent and very courageous. We all need people in our corner like Dr Williamson. Good luck to all those giving support.

VikingOnTheFridge · 08/02/2022 22:08

Best of luck Raquel. Have donated!

Manderleyagain · 08/02/2022 22:49

I'm so glad to hear what you say about the centre supporting you, and particularly dr Williamson. I remember being impressed when she wrote her statement and it must take a great deal of courage to testify. Strong women everywhere.

I've chipped in before and the thread has reminded me to do so again. Whatever the outcome well done for standing up in public and telling everyone what is happening. I hope it goes your way.

DrBlackbird · 08/02/2022 23:47

It would mean so much for women if this case was found in your favour. Can I ask if you’re a member of UCU and if so, have they being supportive?

I am wondering about terminating my membership after two decades of being a member over the union’s refusal to defend single sex spaces and defend union members who advocate for keeping single sex spaces. I’ve known scientists who’ve been harassed because their research is on biological sexed based differences in the use and impact of pharmaceuticals. Yet were not supported. It’s worrying.

RhymesWithOrange · 09/02/2022 18:13

Sending you much love and strength @RaquelRosarioSanchez. That sounded like an absolutely brutal two days.

drwitch · 09/02/2022 20:40

Can I ask you or anyone else why you were only interviewed by the defence. It just seemed as though you had a repeat of what Bristol were doing to you

PaleBlueMoonlight · 09/02/2022 21:46

Sorry if I have missed it, but is there anywhere I can follow what is happening in the proceedings?

Boadicea2 · 09/02/2022 21:55

@PaleBlueMoonlight

Sorry if I have missed it, but is there anywhere I can follow what is happening in the proceedings?
It's being live tweeted by @tribunaltweets twitter.com/tribunaltweets . They are doing a great job, but I find it quite hard to follow.
PaleBlueMoonlight · 09/02/2022 21:58

Thank you. Hopefully someone who knows will be able to summarise in due course.

Redshoeblueshoe · 09/02/2022 22:09

I have been following Tribunal Tweets on Twitter today. That was brutal.

Appalonia · 09/02/2022 22:43

I saw you speak both at an event in Oxford a few years ago and at FILIA last year. I was struck by your intelligence and composure. I'm so sorry you have had such a dreadful time studying in the UK as I know it was a dream come true for you. I really hope the court case goes well for you and wanted you to know what an inspiration you are to me and so many women. Much love to you. Xxx

I’ve known scientists who’ve been harassed because their research is on biological sexed based differences in the use and impact of pharmaceuticals.

Deeply worrying.

Got a pretty sympathetic write up in the Guardian today:

scootalucy · 21/03/2022 18:51

Any idea when there will be news on outcome of case? We are all rooting for you Raquel
