Politically, I can see this being used as a giant hammer to bash the Scotgov with. It won't end well.

They've put themselves in a bit of a silly position because to back out now will infuriate some very vocal and privileged parts of society. But to proceed will infuriate most women.

It's not the first time they've cocked up legislation and over-reached.

The editorial is the stated view of a paper and not signed so various senior writers and the editor will have discussed the subject and probably worked on the contents. As I always say it is worth writing to the editor of the observer and perhaps also to the editor in chief of the Guardian? Rather like how the Mail and Mail on Sunday have sometimes taken very different stances on other issues, it looks like the guardian and observer are doing similar.

Agreed 1Week . The only positive is that millions of women are watching what's happening and starting to speak out - which is why this will eventually change and the dodgy men will be eventually be ousted from women's safe spaces.

Sonia is understandably frustrated.
