How do you challenge a public body who declares that EVERYONE has a gender identity, as a fact?

Complain? Campaign? Does more guidance need to come from the EHRC?

If a public body says that all people have a gender identity (the foundation of the philosophical/religious/political belief of gender ideology) it has huge implications. They run public services paid for with our taxes and must be neutral and fact based.

This page absolutely does say-

GNC > gender dysphoria> trans.

I tried to show from extracts in a post earlier that it does.

Thing is that page is a total mess. I had to read it a few times to get to grips with what they were trying to say.

They use the same term and alter the meaning during the piece.
They make nonsensical leaps from one term to another as if it is totally obvious.
It's almost incomprehensible because it makes no sense.
And this is an NHS info page for public. Presumably supposed to be simple as possible, plain English, widely understood terms where available, and if not a very clear definition.
Due to massive range of people reading.

Hold on I'll see if it makes as much sense to me as when I wrote it, and try again or repost!

Starts with this-

''An individual’s awareness of gender identity, and the emergence of a range of gender-typical behaviours, is usually established by the age of two to three years'.

Gender identity here used to mean societal norms/ stereotypes for sex.

-
'By the age of five years, children will spontaneously characterise others by sex (boy or girl). Negative reactions by children to gender diversity in others, which may include teasing,...'

By sex or by external cues- clothes etc? Or a mix of both? Children that age with underwear on not obvious which sex.

Therefore they presumably mean children start thinking boy/ girl according to... A mix of name, what called, referred to as boy, clothing, and at that sort of thing. True that conformity with sex stereotypes is a big thing. Stage in development thing.

**Change of term!!!
NOTE Gender identity (GNC) is now referred to as Gender Diversity. A DIFFERENT term and one used widely by trans orgs etc.

'Such negative reactions may result in psychological distress for the recipient and heighten any gender dysphoria that they might experience.'

I read that as the very common discomfort with some or many aspects of expected behaviour etc and the fact many little children are massively into v narrow boy/girl norms and can be outspoken about non conformity and nasty/ cruel. Ok generally ok... However-

*Change of term!!!
This discomfort etc. First gender identity. Then gender diversity. Now gender dysphoria.

But that's not it. They plough on regardless of their terms gradually changing, with different connotations.

And the child/ children being described have NOT changed how they feel about what they like and why aren't they supposed to like that etc.

So the child is the same, feelings of discomfort with sex/gender role same as since little. Has nevertheless moved from GNC to gender dysphoric.

And then come the ENORMOUS MASSIVE FUNDAMENTAL leap...

'puberty; these changes (growth of body hair, facial hair, external genitalia and deepening of the voice in boys, and breast development and the onset of menstruation in girls) can be deeply distressing to individuals whose gender identity is not congruent with their sex development, again contributing to any experience of gender dysphoria'

Suddenly it's not about discontent with stereotypes around appearance and other imposed constraints for the sexes.

Sex is back! did NOT see that coming.

Apparently at puberty. The discomfort of children at some/ many stereotypes around behaviour clothes etc. Is suddenly and seemingly obviously related to discomfort with sexed body?!

And note the child's feelings- of being uncomfy with imposed sex stereotypes- have NOT CHANGED. Yet suddenly they're very likely to be SEX DYSPHORIC. Which is a totally different and potentially very serious issue.

I mean this page is just drivel.

Yes, Cheesemmm
They use a series of accumulation of suggestions - in which there are aggregations and conflations of the words sex, gender, identity then by the end of the paragraphs it is all very certain that there is such a thing as a gender ‘identity’ which could be separate from the child’s sex and they have full blown gender dysphoria. No mention is made of the general dysphoria of teens that go alongside their body changes and all the other factors in their life which make them doubt themselves at this time.

If a public body says that all people have a gender identity (the foundation of the philosophical/religious/political belief of gender ideology) it has huge implications. They run public services paid for with our taxes and must be neutral and fact based.

Gender identity isn't gender and isn't gender ideology. If it's an ideology it's gender identity ideology. The NHS quote below also conflates gender identity with gender - and it's far from being only the NHS which does that.

This creates confusion and obscures what we are talking about and what words mean. 'Gender identity' has taken the term 'gender', meaning 'sex' as it is used in existing laws and grafted onto it a notional 'identity'; this hybrid coinage has then seeped into public life, commentary and discourse and is being used to subvert and replace 'sex' as a category, with all the consequences that we know.
