Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

The silencing of women/girls (lesbians, rape victims CSA) for the “greater good

BatmansBat · 29/10/2021 19:07

I am beyond angry this evening.

The BBC article came out about the lesbians who were coerced to sex and I believe raped. TRAs were trying to take it down and Dr Finn even tweeted that she believed the victims but that it shouldn’t be talked about in the open.

Then there was the girl who was raped in the girls’ toilets by the gender fluid boy. The school board tried to quiet this down and denied all knowledge. They had purposely not recorded sexual assaults. But they did pass the transgender policy making it easier for gender fluid boys and trans girls to access the girls’ toilets.

Then there is the democratic candidate in Virginia who has ties to a law firm which is trying to silence girls, victims of gang rape. www.bizpacreview.com/2021/10/27/law-firm-that-employed-mcauliffe-is-fighting-case-against-student-who-says-she-was-gang-raped-at-school-1155036/

We had the grooming gangs in the U.K. The girls were slut shamed and everyone were afraid to appear racist.

And… I was sexually abused by a relative as a young teen. It only happened once as I refused to see him ever again. I was also told to be quiet. People knew. But “it would be so bad for his family”. “Think of his children”.

Why are women and girls so often silenced? Why is it more important not to appear racist or transphobic? Why is the family life of creeps more important than abused girls? Why is the image of the transgender movement more important than the abuse of young lesbian women?

I completely get the whole “innocent until proved guilty”. But when there is no doubt? When everyone knows?

I am so angry and upset this evening. And don’t get me started on “me too” and “believe the victim”. That only appears to apply for very specific victims and very specific perpetrators.

What's happening to women and girls is appalling. A relentless and sustained attack to remove their rights and silence their voices.

And I'm sorry about what happened to you too Flowers

Whatsnewpussyhat · 29/10/2021 19:22

It's the way they frame is as an anti LGBTQ++++++++ agenda.
No, the blatant homophobia is not only coming FROM inside that 'community', but they are doing everything in to pander to and protect straight males above lesbians.

Gaslighting bullshit.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/10/2021 19:27

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I have been fortunate not to be in this position either as victim or relative of victim. I hope I would always have put the victim first. It does seem as if many people wouldn't. I don't understand this. Sexual abuse of a minor is extremely serious. A perpetrator should be locked up to prevent further offences and as a significant statement to society that we take children's safety seriously and will severely punish those who abuse them.

BatmansBat · 29/10/2021 19:32

Thank you.

It makes me so angry. Males are considered to be more important than young girls and women. And this trans movement is considered more important than the violation of young lesbian women. And the rape of underaged girls.

Because the trans movement needs to be protected and transwomen (biological males with penises in many cases) want access to women’s spaces, any abuse victims need to be quiet. And what for? It is not in the girls’ interest to be quiet. And the creeps will do it again, to other women and girls.

My relative was a creep. And I blamed myself for everything. I didn’t even tell my dad as I was so ashamed over being abused. It all came out when rumours that my relative was a creep started to circulate and he thought I had started them. Only it was another victim. And then I was expected to lie to “protect his family”.

These young lesbians are being told they are bigots for not sleeping with transwomen. They are thrown out of dating apps for stating that they only date biological women. And when they are abused they are told to be quiet about it so that transwomen won’t look bad.

All communities have creeps. Why should transwomen be protected? Why should any minority male be protected?

OP posts:
NonnyMouse1337 · 29/10/2021 19:36

I'm really sorry to hear that you were sexually abused and that the people around you who should have stood up for your safety and well-being let you down badly.

It's horrible that time and time again, predatory men are allowed to get away without any consequences for their actions..... Years and decades can pass before any action is taken, leaving a trail of women and girls who are abused and exploited.

I find it even more disgusting at how much some on the 'left' or those who view themselves as 'progressive' will turn a blind eye to simply because they think males with an 'oppressed' label should be prioritised over women and girls.

BatmansBat · 29/10/2021 19:43

This is what I don’t understand. What is it with this “transwomen” are the most oppressed people?

All individuals are going through bad things. We lose people we love to death and illness. And many young girls are abused.

I cannot even imagine how hard it must be for a young lesbian to go against societal norms and come out as a lesbian. And then this young woman may be coerced, abused and gaslighted by a biological male in a dress. With a penis.

And now the BBC has a letter with thousands of signatures from people who want to quiet the voices of the ones who dare to speak up. Who have overcome enough shame (because a victim often feel shame) to speak up and say “this happened to me”.

I think all the signatories of that letter should hang their heads in shame. They are gaslighting abuse victims to further a political agenda. Which primarily benefits males.

It's a particularly nasty time we are living through, misogyny is rife and I'm not sure it has been better in times gone past, perhaps right now, with gender ideology being so misogynistic and homophobic it has brought all this to the surface...

Whatever it is I wanted to say I believe you OP. I always believe the woman or girl, I always start there.

The silencing of woman is nothing new, it's nevertheless hideous, it makes me rage and I use that to spur me on.

I'm so sorry for what you have been through. I hate that this happened to you, I hate it whenever it happens, perhaps especially as it keeps on happening.

I hope the man that did it rots. (And I don't need to ask if it was a man).

Twelveshoes · 29/10/2021 19:54

This always happens, in every community and subculture. Women and girls are told to keep quiet about sexual assault so as not to bring the community into disrepute.

Artichokeleaves · 29/10/2021 19:54

I am so sorry this happened to you OP Flowers

It has been too accepted for much too long that the male life is much more valuable of the two humans involved, and it is more important not to discredit and disadvantage a male person with consequences when his actions have destroyed a female person's life.

Sexual assault leaves scars that never leave. The petitions and anger about the BBC article are all still on the same theme, frantically trying to put the blame back on females and rely on female niceness to shield the real issues.

'Yes yes, horrible things have happened to females, but it's more important that females don't talk about it or cause action to happen about it that may inconvenience male people.'

Everyone enabling male people, whether actively perpetrating or not, to feel entitled to define the terms on which female people may mind about abuse, assault, subhuman treatment, is actively contributing to the culture that allows male people to rape, to murder, to make ridiculous statements like a homosexual woman may not say no to sex with a male just because the male has a penis .

It is actively telling females, know your place. It's actively male supremacism. It's in plain sight now and it needs challenging head on. This is no longer defensible.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 29/10/2021 19:55

They should read this thread from twitter.

All I'll say about the BBC article is that I wish there were some recognition on the left not only of the ways sexual abuse allegations are wielded against marginalized groups, but of how fear of this weaponization itself leads to the dismissal of sexual abuse as a real issue.

We see this time and againdiscussion of misogyny in the global south being framed as racist is the biggest exampleand it goes to show that the left, like the right, ultimately views sexual abuse as something that only matters insofar as it can be used as a political tool.

BloodinGutters · 29/10/2021 20:00

Been there too.

It’s not that this movement, or the Catholic Church or families matter more.

It’s that girls and women don’t matter.

We are just objects, objects don’t get a voice.

BatmansBat · 29/10/2021 20:05

Of course it was a male for me.

And this “not bringing the community into disrepute” has to go.

And the dynamics in the BBC article is just so classic and it makes me so angry. There are creeps in all communities. Mostly male creeps.

Males commit 98% of sexual assaults. This does not appear to change when they transition.

In addition, there will be creeps pretending to be transwomen in order to be able to access women and girls.

And this whole debate has been silenced for so long. The creeps are not being called out. For “the good of the community” this needs to be hushed up, the victims need to be quiet. For “the good of my relative’s family” I needed to be quiet. And then these males can as a collective get more access to women’s spaces. And my relative could continue to be an abusive creep whilst enjoying his family life.

No. No, no, no.

We can have a discussion about access. Hi am here to discuss. But not until it is admitted that there are creeps. That are trying to abuse women and girls.

yourhairiswinterfire · 29/10/2021 20:06

I'm so sorry Bat Flowers

Appalling. Just appalling. There are no words strong enough, really. Sick to fucking death of women and girls being treated like this. Collateral damage. Smeared as liars because the abuse they've suffered is a tad inconvenient to ''progressives''. Dismissed because ''not enough'' have suffered anyway. Not even worth trying to protect from rape when trapped in prison, because protecting women isn't fair on convicted rapists.

The people championing all this turn my stomach, they really do.

I am so angry and upset this evening. And don’t get me started on “me too” and “believe the victim”. That only appears to apply for very specific victims and very specific perpetrators.

Yes. I've said it on another thread, but it's always ''Believe women** ''

** terms and conditions apply.

They can just fuck right off pretending to give a shit about VAWG Angry

ArabellaScott · 29/10/2021 20:08

Flowers OP.

I'm so sorry. I'm also furious on your behalf, and on behalf of all women and girls told to be quiet, not make a fuss, think of the feelings of others, don't cause ripples, don't upset things.

Minimising, excusing, dismissing, disbelieving and ignoring the victims and survivors of abuse is complicity.

Shame on anyone who does so.

BatmansBat · 29/10/2021 20:13

Purgatory, that is such a good statement. Sexual abuse only seems to matter as a political tool. It seems that in the US, the conservatives are weaponising this whereas the left is silencing rape victims in the name of trans rights.

I thought that only the conservatives in the U.K. was pushing this (probably due to more accurate polls) but I was heartened by the labour women letter which I posted as a separate thread.

To be honest, at this stage I don’t care why politicians are supporting women and girls against abuse. I just want them to believe women and girls and allowing a discussion which can make us safer.

BloodinGutters 💐 Regarding the sex abusing catholic priests; I hope they end up in the purgatory they believe in. For thousands of years. Suffering in return for the trauma they caused innocent children.

I’m so sorry, batmansbat. You were very badly let down by adults who should have believed, protected and supported you Flowers

I’m absolutely disgusted at the victim blaming and the silencing that the women in the BBC article have had to endure, which is just the latest iteration of an age old issue.

Women matter. Girls matter. Our pain matters. It is never progressive to steamroller over abuse in pursuit of some other goal. Women and girls are not unavoidable collateral damage.

Youdonthavetobegood · 30/10/2021 07:28

I'm furious too. Absolutely furious. For you and for all the other women silenced. And furious at my fellow women for being complicit in this

quixote9 · 30/10/2021 07:48

We're not actual humans to people like that, and sadly "like that" includes way too many women.

Men get automatically put first same as you'd put a human life ahead of a dog's. Women, in their heads, are comfort animals. We don't have our own feelings for them to worry about any more than they worry about a cow's. We're invisible. And oddly enough if you jump up and down and shout, "I'm right over here! Why can't you see? What you're doing is bad for me!" they react like they would to dolphin squeaks.

Life inside their heads must be very strange.

Helleofabore · 30/10/2021 08:23

Flowers Bat, I am so sorry that happened in the first place but that the family reacted that way.

It was an appalling statement by Finn and I think the way that the activists have reacted will sadly not have registered for many who don’t know what is going on. But we see it. We see the absolute distain to woman and girls, to victims, that is being shown by a mantra driven, be kind crowd.

We hear the voices of those women and girls. And we hear you.

Grumpyosaurus · 30/10/2021 08:46

I can't get past the idea that the 'conservative mainstream' is just waiting to crush gay rights. Has he any idea how many gay men are in that 'conservative mainstream'? I know maybe half a dozen gay men well enough to have an inkling of their politics, and two of them definitely vote Tory, and another two or three probably do. They all look, talk and act like social conservatives. Many of their friends are either Tory voters or social conservatives who vote LibDem.

I live in a rural, right-wing area and the local gays are just a part of the community.

Dr Finn needs to get out more.

I'm so sorry OP.

You just have to look at what happened with Jimmy Saville to see that protecting a male's reputation takes priority over helping and believing his female victims.

There really is a war again women at the moment.

All we can do is speak up, keep talking, keep defending women's rights. We are half the population and if enough of us are brave enough to speak up then change will happen.

BatmansBat · 30/10/2021 09:07

What I find the most frustrating with the trying to get the BBC article taken down is the gaslighting of lesbians.

I have sort of learnt to live with the fact that women aren’t believed. I remember following a rape case where the victim had been gang raped and suffered horrific internal injuries (objects were used). The perpetrators tried to claim it was consensual. The mum of one of the boys (about 18) was trying to say that “her boy never could do anything violent”.

With “me too” there was a certain hope that this would improve. Now lesbians are faced with biological males wearing dresses. They are thrown out of dating apps if they state that they don’t want these males and their penises. They are coerced to go on dates with them. And it appears that some are rapists.

But if they are raped by a “transwoman”, with a penis, they are not allowed to talks about it. Because it could make it harder for transwomen to access women’s safe spaces.

I put the “transwoman” in the rape in brackets because who knows if they are genuine or a regular man in a dress? Whe are not allowed to talk about that either. “Acceptance without question” according to Stonewall.

But the silencing is the same. And the gaslighting is there. You have transwomen drawing dicks on the pavement outside demonstrations. You have transwomen sending dick pictures. You have transwomen twittering “suck my lady dick”. And young women and girls should just be silent for the “good of the trans community”.

NO! This needs to be discussed. Abuse and rape needs to be discussed and talked about. And prevented. There are no sacred castes.
