MP who thinks women only spaces are for dinosaurs hoarding rights comments on thick as mince Raab who says
Misogyny is absolutely wrong, whether it’s a man against a woman, or a woman against a man

OP posts:
Mochudubh · 06/10/2021 13:00

@PronounssheRa

that's rich coming from a man who thinks males can grow a cervix and that women are dinosaurs. But, yeah Raab is an idiot too.
I've just seen the report and came on here to see if anyone had started a thread about the sheer hypocrisy.
Melroses · 06/10/2021 13:03

Pot, kettle and all that 🙄

MagpiePi · 06/10/2021 13:05

I think the main thing that we are missing here is that we MUST NOT BE nasty to the poor, suffering men.

#be nice

...FFS

Whatthechicken · 06/10/2021 13:07

I can imagine him tapping out that tweet giggling ‘na, na, na, na, naa’ to himself.

Makes you realise how easy it must have been to lobby government (and everyone else) for gender ideology and it explains how quickly women’s rights were cast aside.

Cailleach1 · 06/10/2021 13:16

@MmeD

How, how, how do these people get into Oxbridge and then into government? They have educations that prove they are clever. Why then does so much stupid come out of their mouths? Please someone explain
Strange, isn't it? And Lammy went to Harvard, via UCL, and casually stated that men can grow cervices with a bit of surgery and hormones. Maybe not ovaries! Only maybe.

I think they don't really care what they say about women. Women aren't fully human. Men are important and that is why it is important that everyone acknowledges them as women, if they say they are. As for the discrete sex class formerly known as women; they need to do a supporting role.

RealhousewifeofBarnardCastle · 06/10/2021 13:19

Christ alive, just when you think the conservatives and MPs can’t piss women off even more they surpass themselves

WTF is Raab ON?

PronounssheRa · 06/10/2021 13:20

This whole issue has revealed a lot about MPs, the lack of intelligence, the lack of concern about women's rights, the willingness to lie and repeat utter nonsense , how gullible some are, but also the very small number who are actually really brave

Absolutely. It's extraordinary. I never realised until recently just how dim these people are.

I can't say I am surprised, but their willingness to publicly display it is a bit of an eye opener (to say the least) And yes, thanks for the few brave and smart ones!
ANewCreation · 06/10/2021 13:33

Could it have been the impact of the boxing at Cambridge on his brain for Raab?

Same. It's one thing not knowing anything about the issue. But it's quite another publicly talking about it whilst you know you know nothing.
Eucalyptustrees · 06/10/2021 13:43

Raab said insults and misogyny are wrong either way. He was talking about two things.

When people speak unscripted like this they rarely speak in perfectly grammatical sentences as we do in writing.

Lammy has a cheek pouncing on that when he's deliberately lied about what women have told him, insulted women and trivialised the issues as less important than petrol.

I imagine he's still angry at his own embarrassing performance. If he's capable of self reflection of course, which I doubt he has time for.

Eucalyptustrees · 06/10/2021 13:48

The OP has very selectively edited Raab to miss out him saying the bit about insults and misogyny.

Selectively editing people's words to deliberately cause abuse and insults is one of the problems we face. If you also participate in that technique then your claims for damages are rather hollow.

Datun · 06/10/2021 13:51

Yes he said insults and misogyny. So he's half right.

The issue, for me, is that there is this need to pretend that it's all symmetrical and it goes both ways.

It isn't, and it doesn't.

I have absolutely no problem with politicians campaigning for provision for men who need it for whatever reason.

But not when it's used as some kind of counterbalance to the misogyny that women face.

It's a sly bit of editing by the Guardian as well because they've omitted the insults bit as well. How very manipulative to the point of dishonesty:

However, pressed on BBC Breakfast about whether misogyny should be a hate crime, he appeared not to understand the term as he said “misogyny is absolutely wrong, whether it’s a man against a woman or a woman against a man”.

It's not elegantly expressed but it is speech with all of the ambiguities that we would all utter if transcribed and then edited: Raab clearly says, insults and misogyny in the clip the Guardian uses.

Lottapianos · 06/10/2021 13:57

'I think they don't really care what they say about women. Women aren't fully human'

Spot on. Just trot out any old shit and hope the issue goes away. Pathetic

CatrinVennastin · 06/10/2021 15:03

I was watching a programme on Monday about the rise of Blair and Brown and I was thinking that Labour in those days had some really intelligent MP's who stood for something. I could recognise Jack Straw, Robin Cook, John Smith, Margaret Beckett etc.

Nowadays I haven't got a clue what Labour stand for or who anyone is.

Then my own MP who I thought was one of the good ones turns out to be a complete twat.

WinterTrees · 06/10/2021 15:10

Foxy Kimono has waded in. He is, after all, Chief Misogynist. (And the High Commander of Hypocrisy too, it seems.)

lazylinguist · 06/10/2021 15:50

I don't see how the inclusion of the word 'insults' makes the use of 'misogyny' here any less wrong, especially since he said mosogyny second.

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 06/10/2021 16:12

It's interesting to me that when asked about making misogyny a hate crime, Raab links it to insults. It's as if 'hate crime' now is focused on speech and not so much on a motivation for violent crime.

BraveBananaBadge · 06/10/2021 16:30

I wish they would all just shut up and fuck off.

Yup.

lazylinguist · 06/10/2021 16:59

*misogyny, not mosogyny!

Passmeamenuatthetottenham · 06/10/2021 17:18

This is just another opportunity for the likes of Lammy, Jones, Maugham etc to pretend they give a flying fuck about women in order to get one over on their 'opponents'. They are just using us to make themselves look good. They can fuck off.

Not that Raab gives a shit either.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 06/10/2021 17:27

Raab gives zero shits.
