Kathleen Stock has drawn attention to this new Toilets and Changing Facilities Statement from the University of Kent. Principle 2 stipulates that people will not be challenged regarding gender access requirements.

It's the logical conclusion of self-id.

Isn’t this the University of Exeter?

Marguerite2000 · 29/09/2021 11:38

So any man can use the women's toilets and changing rooms then. Why don't they just say that it plain english instead of banging on about diversity.

BaronMunchausen · 29/09/2021 11:40

@Catabogus

Isn’t this the University of Exeter?
Sorry, yes.

Had just been reading the thread on Kent re 2nd hand clothes!

Oh no this wouldnt happen.... 😔

Absolutely logical conclusion and where we could all see this was going.

I fear for the future.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 29/09/2021 11:55

What exactly are single gender facilities?

PaleGreenGhost · 29/09/2021 11:59

@Whatsnewpussyhat

What exactly are single gender facilities?
Where we chat about lipstick while swishing our hair, duh! Who cares how we pee? etc
IvyTwines2 · 29/09/2021 12:01

ClunkingOtter's comment in the thread: 'This is a clear message: feeling comfortable is now a recognized need, or right, or privilege, for everybody except women.'

LaBellina · 29/09/2021 12:02

I wonder if they have considered how this might impact the educational possibilities of women of certain minorities background who really need single sex facilities because of cultural/ religious reasons Sad.

NancyDrawed · 29/09/2021 12:04

So, mixed sex, mixed sex and unisex accessible, then.

Whitefire · 29/09/2021 12:09

So, mixed sex, mixed sex and unisex accessible, then.

Almost - Men's, mixed sex, mixed sex and unisex accessible, then.

StrangePlanesforStrangeDays · 29/09/2021 12:11

Glossary
Single-gender facilities - facilities separated into male and female, of which trans and gender nonconforming (GNC) can use whichever they feel most comfortable using. For instance, a trans woman
can use either the women's or the men’s facilities, whichever she is most comfortable in.

Gender-inclusive facilities - Facilities that are not separated by gender identity and can be used by anyone, regardless of gender.

Accessible facilities - Facilities designed for people with disabilities. Disabilities can be visible or invisible. . Trans identity is not a disability and trans or GNC people should not feel compelled to use these facilities

Yep mixed sex, mixed sex, mixed sex...

Males can use whichever they want to feel comfortable. Women cannot use any to feel comfortable and safe. Women budge up and share.

AlfonsoTheDinosaur · 29/09/2021 12:29

So men have single-sex facilities but women don't? That is dismaying.

Franca123 · 29/09/2021 12:32

I have a disabled mother so i don't say this lightly. Women at this university should use the disabled loos. This is not safe.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 29/09/2021 13:28

It's quite literally a pissing contest where males, once again assert their dominance over females.

It's clear sex discrimination and female oppression.

The uni will get away will the bullshit because the toilets are labelled as female despite being mixed sex.

RhubarbCrumbled · 29/09/2021 16:02

I'd recommend all women at the university to start complaining about the state of ALL the toilets. Men's toilets can be vile (although with shorter queues) and they may get very fed up with the complaints of women who can't find a clean toilet to sit down in.

Chrysanthemum5 · 29/09/2021 16:08

Wasn't it Exeter that had the report saying they had followed incorrect stonewall advice?

OvaHere · 29/09/2021 16:16

So putting aside for a minute the issue of people who are 'officially transitioning' and what that means.

They also allow for a man who describes himself as GNC (might just wear some nail polish or have long hair or maybe none of those - who is the arbiter of what is GNC?) can go into the women's changing area, watch women change, maybe get naked himself and if those women complain they will be punished?

This is basically a Wi Spa Charter.

AlfonsoTheDinosaur · 29/09/2021 16:20

It's open day for voyeurs.

OvaHere · 29/09/2021 16:21

Audrey Ludwig, a discrimination solicitor thinks this could be challenged as indirect discrimination.

When I was at Exeter they had an Islamic Studies Centre. I wonder if the new rules apply in that building too.

Exeter already one of the top mentions on this website.

Artichokeleaves · 29/09/2021 16:51

Male supremacist toilets.

Mission complete.

Whitefire · 29/09/2021 16:58

But there's no clash of rights.

A University of Exeter spokesman said "the safety, security and wellbeing of our students is, and always will be, our primary concern", adding that it had a "zero tolerance for sexual harassment, abuse or assault".

So zero tolerance but at the same time opening up the toilets to anyone and everyone.

DadDadDad · 29/09/2021 17:00

From that Sky News article:

A University of Exeter spokesman said "the safety, security and wellbeing of our students is, and always will be, our primary concern", adding that it had a "zero tolerance for sexual harassment, abuse or assault".

So, if for their security a female Exeter student in a changing area wants to challenge a man who has entered that area, how does she do so without inadvertently appearing to challenge them "regarding personal gender identity" and so be in breach of principle 2 of Exeter's policy statement?

anothermansshoes · 29/09/2021 17:02

Perhaps a freedom of information request

How many female students have suffered physical assault on campus ?
