University decrees people must not be challenged in toilets and changing areas

Kathleen Stock has drawn attention to this new Toilets and Changing Facilities Statement from the University of Kent. Principle 2 stipulates that people will not be challenged regarding gender access requirements.

It's the logical conclusion of self-id.

This is what makes me laugh about the 'what are you gonna do, check everyone's genitals as they walk into the loos' gotcha that TRAs use.

Under this sort of self id policy, the idea of genitals being in any way relevant is completely redundant. A big huge bloke who very obviously has a cock and balls can walk into the ladies and no one can challenge him because he is 'self identifying as female' and 'using the facilities he is most comfortable with'.

And these fucking idiots don't think this kind of caper will be exploited by men who want access to vulnerable women?

@Chrysanthemum5

Wasn't it Exeter that had the report saying they had followed incorrect stonewall advice?
And then they apologised for ever countenancing the horrid thing and apologised to all and sundry for the trauma of the Reindorf Review and pretty much pledged to implement none of it.

This toilet thing is probably part of the negotiated ransom reparations package.

Ah Exeter, the University that topped the rape culture league table, removing protections for women. This will end well.

But don’t worry, because if you do get raped or sexually assaulted the university has “zero tolerance for sexual harassment, abuse or assault” and “criminal or disciplinary proceedings will be brought against those who commit these offences.”

This is, of course, much cheaper and easier than taking measures to actually prevent it. Suck it up and report it afterwards.

If an assault happens, they "tut" loudly.

I thought that was the Uni of Essex.

Yes - Reindorf Review was for Essex. Apologies.

The problem with using the disabled loo is that it can be dangerous. As can any loo without the gap at the bottom of the door. As you can’t see if anyone has collapsed behind it. Where do you if you’re out and you feel ill? Realise you are heavily bleeding/ miscarriage? Chest pains? About to have a seizure? The gaps are there for safety and hygiene/air flow. So you need men and women only toilets with gaps at the bottom of the doors. Like there’s been for a long time. Also useful to check quickly when there’s a fire.

This exact thing happened to someone I know at Exeter university campus 20 odd years ago. Ectopic pregnancy. Luckily someone found her as the cubicles allowed for her to be seen.
DottyHarmer · 29/09/2021 17:52

I thought this would happen all along.

A while ago I was at Gatwick very early in the morning. I went to the loos which were quite remote, and there was no one around. When I came out there was a man there. Now, he may have gone into the women’s in error, but I didn’t like the look of him and ran out. But according to this new “rule” I was a bigot and if I’d told a cleaner or other member of staff i would have been the one in trouble.

Quite.

And given that less than 5% of reported rapes end in charges, and much less than that end in a conviction, and that a university recently hosted a student talking in loving detail with full aprobation from the university about holding a knife to a woman's throat and being aroused by it.....

it's pretty much open season without consequences.

Can you imagine the shrieking if anyone said that TW should use the men's facilities and they can just prosecute if anything bad happens to them?

That's because male people matter.

Apparently.

LSE. twitter.com/SexMattersOrg/status/1419643247522103303?s=20 There will have been a thread about it here at the time too, I'm sure. It was a couple of months ago.

Catabogus · 29/09/2021 22:47

Bloody hell fire! I had somehow missed that. Thank you for the links, Embarrassing and Gasp0de. Very disturbing indeed.
