Excellent line-up. Glinner, Kellie, Helen Joyce etc.

Mollyollydolly · 24/09/2021 11:13

Watching now. Helen is great. Wish she was a politician! Such a good speaker.

Signalbox · 24/09/2021 11:22

Really interesting. Good to hear from Sonia Appleby. Choosing her words very carefully though.

LatinforTelly · 24/09/2021 11:22

Watching too. Helen and Sonia such clever, considered speakers. (sorry to fangirl).

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 24/09/2021 11:23

The Baroness is talking about birth certificates and child trafficking which is a huge concern of mine. I may have discussed this at some length in my response to the GRA consultation.

TedImgoingmad · 24/09/2021 11:39

This is fantastic, thanks for the heads up, OP.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 24/09/2021 11:41

I've got to say that it was poor chairing to allow JH to speak for so long leaving such restrictions for the others.

Mollyollydolly · 24/09/2021 11:47

Graham very good as well. Great panel. Lord Wasserman's face is a picture, he's taking it all in!

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 24/09/2021 12:00

Arty Morty made a similar point to Posie recently - that branding raises concerns.

If somebody is wearing a lanyard that signals a disregard for women's perspective that would make many people wary.

catzwhiskas · 24/09/2021 12:21

Will there be a recording..?missed it.

ZombieEthel · 24/09/2021 12:22

JH is a bloody legend and it's appalling that she was censored from speaking at her local party meeting in such a sneaky way.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 24/09/2021 12:22

Recording light is on (still going). I don't know who gets to see the recording.

Masdintle · 24/09/2021 12:25

The Rev didn't believe that 'woman: adult human female' was difficult to say on the BBC. Great that Helen and Jean put him right! I'm fangirling too Grin

Masdintle · 24/09/2021 12:34

Sorry it was Stephen Timms MP who didn't believe Posie. Glinner has put him right

dianebrewster · 24/09/2021 12:52

I think this is one of the best webinars so far... well worth watching the recording when it's released. Lord Wasserman is interesting.... Baroness Nicholson has done a great job of pulling in support for TALKING about these issues.

Masdintle · 24/09/2021 13:02

The Bish doesn't get it. Beeeee kiiiiinnnnddd

JustcameoutGC · 24/09/2021 13:04

Yeah, the bish needs a few tweets inviting him to suck lady dick, and then we'll see.

PatsArrow · 24/09/2021 13:06

Amazing Webinar. The best yet. Everyone spoke well but Helen Joyce and Posie stood out for me. Posie has that ability to put things simply and cut through a lot of crap. Her 3 questions (just 3!) really struck a chord with everyone.

dianebrewster · 24/09/2021 13:10

interesting - I didn't hear it like that, (I used to work for a Bishop!) he very clearly talked about the starting point being the most vulnerable - and cited the vulnerability of women and children and contrasted that with the small number making a lot of noise. He did not repeat the be kind mantra. I'll be interested to see the recording and check my memory on that one.
vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 24/09/2021 13:12

I missed it, had to work. Where does the recording go?

JustcameoutGC · 24/09/2021 13:12

I missed her 3 questions. What were they?

Mollyollydolly · 24/09/2021 13:25

Hope this one goes online soon, missed the second half had to go out and pick the dog up. It was really good. One of the things that makes me bloody furious is that all these good, intelligent, compassionate people are called bigots. It's unbelievable.

PatsArrow · 24/09/2021 13:25

I can't remember her exact phrasing but it was (please someone correct me if I'm wrong).

1/ When are Parliament going to debate repealing the GRA? It is no longer fit for purpose.

2/ when are politicians going to get brave and start using language that reflects reality? 'Cis ' woman etc has seeped into everyday language. This lead onto discussion about language used in legal cases (raped women being made to refer to their rapists as women if thats was the rapists wishes etc) Media language and reporting etc.

3/ When will Parliament look into how ALL our public institutions are displaying and promoting the political symbols of the Pride colours? Posie argued that the Pride colours have become synonymous with her feeling that they do not support women or children (not great when encountering them do prominently all over a hospital for example)

The questions all prompted huge discussion.

Emma now has a YouTube page. Not sure when they go online. m.youtube.com/channel/UCXIVBTjzbirIGJ37551MI4Q
EmbarrassingAdmissions · 24/09/2021 13:29

@JustcameoutGC

I missed her 3 questions. What were they?
I paraphrase:

1 As the GRA was passed for particular purposes (to allow same sex marriage, I don't think she mentioned pensions) and that is now available, is it time to repeal the GRA for its unintended consequences for the rights of women and children.

2 Language. If captured organisations like the BBC refuse to acknowledge woman: adult human female except to call it a controversial statement, and police forces and the press abide by self-identity to record crimes, then how can we have a public discussion that everybody understands.

3 De-integrating Stonewall and the influence of lobby groups from captured institutions like the NHS, the House of Lords, the judiciary in the form of training and the ETBB etc.
