Apologies but I've name changed as this is my home town, am a fairly regular poster of around 9 years but thought you lot of vipers would be interested in this.

Glad to see the reaction from parents forced a u-turn, and glad to see the majority of the comments on the article.

"The school was challenged by an external body about the toilet facilities and making sure they were inclusive for all groups of children."

refusetobeasheep · 13/09/2021 19:18

that's fab!

NiceGerbil · 13/09/2021 19:28

Girls coming in while boys using urinal?

Boys in the girls unmodified with gaps round doors feels not comfy for the girls esp if doing period stuff.

What were they thinking?

Which external body is contacting primary schools and pushing this?

Why are the schools unthinkingly doing it?

Jaysmith71 · 13/09/2021 19:32

Which external body is contacting primary schools and pushing this?

Oooooooh, let me think.

WhereTheFuckIsTheGin · 13/09/2021 19:34

@Jaysmith71 oooh didn't realise it had made it to the mail as well, thankyou!!

Incidentally I need to get in touch with our local MP about my own DC's primary school PSHE curriculum. Jigsaw again. I'm going to point out these articles again, although sure he's already aware.

So fed up of this absolute rubbish. It's good to see when there is pushback but it's exhausting all the time. And so depressing.

I wonder.

Anyhow, I thought everyone outside of this board was totally and utterly all for, 100% onside, with the TRA agenda and we are just a tiny minority, hmm, when it is put to the test the evidence speaks to the contrary.

The general public when they find out about what's being pushed by TRAs don't buy it, don't want it and, as here, won't accept it.

NiceGerbil · 13/09/2021 19:48

It could be one of any number of orgs.

I see no reason for the school not to say who they are. I'd have thought it would be obvious to say who it was.

NiceGerbil · 13/09/2021 19:54

'"It's a hard one but I understand some children are confused and don't want to go into the boys or the girls, but when they haven't got proper floor-to-ceiling walled toilets, that's my issue. Anybody can look on anybody going to the toilet, they are so low you don't even need to stand on a toilet to look over it.'

'Scenario 1)
My daughter doesn’t want a boy changing next to her, what if he looks at her body?
For example, in this scenario it would not be appropriate to remove the trans* person from the
changing rooms if a concern is raised by a parent or carer. In this situation, it would be far more
appropriate to look at offering an alternative changing arrangement for the child who feels
uncomfortable around the trans* person. A Human Rights response would be to state that
although the individual in question may have the body of a boy, they are in every other respect a
girl and as such have the right under the Equality Act to change with the girls and to be treated
fairly as such. It is the responsibility of members of staff to support both trans* students and
cisgender students to feel comfortable around one another.'

There is no scenario 2.

Interesting that was the only one given.

As ever stigmatise the girl, break down the girls boundaries.

And that is NOT what the Equality Act says.

Thelnebriati · 13/09/2021 20:07

Thats not what The Equality Act says, and children cannot obtain a Gender Recognition Certificate.

WhereTheFuckIsTheGin · 13/09/2021 20:14

@NiceGerbil I'm probably being thick but I can't find the school's policy page, could you please link it?

I'm going to get in touch with my MP tonight. I've been needing to do it about the jigsaw curriculum at my own children's school. I'm mentioning this as well- this school comes under his area of Swindon.

Sunndown · 13/09/2021 20:16

How is having the body of a boy not relevant when talking about taking your clothes off?!!

WhereTheFuckIsTheGin · 13/09/2021 20:17

@NiceGerbil thankyou!

OP posts:
Sunndown · 13/09/2021 20:17

If 10 girls object to 1 boy in their changing room, what then?

NiceGerbil · 13/09/2021 20:19

No probs OP :)

WhereTheFuckIsTheGin · 13/09/2021 20:23

I'm reading the policy now- I'm really, really struggling to even understand this:

The word Transgender is sometimes used interchangeably with the term gender-variant but usually has a narrower meaning and different connotations than gender variant, including non- identification with the gender assigned at birth. Children and students that experience or show gender variance may or may not be transsexual, as some will not retain their gender variance following puberty because gender variance can be fluid.

Any ideas? I'm lost.

OP posts:
MrsFin · 13/09/2021 20:24

Total waffle

Jaysmith71 · 13/09/2021 20:25

Why is there a separate Transgender Policy at all? This is covered under safeguarding, isn't it?

WhereTheFuckIsTheGin · 13/09/2021 20:27

We will ensure that neither males nor females are treated less favourably in any procedures, practices or aspects of our school environment.

Failed at this already, girls just don't matter.

Each TWHF school has a robust anti-bullying policy. In line with this policy, transphobia incidents will be recorded and dealt with in the same manner as other incidents that are motivated by prejudice, e.g. racist or homophobic incidents.

Funny how sexism is literally never mentioned, isn't it. Wonder why that could be.

OP posts:
WhereTheFuckIsTheGin · 13/09/2021 20:30

This approach is underpinned by the Equality Act 2010 whereby refusing a child or young person access to the changing room of their true gender identity would constitute an act of discrimination.

True gender identity? How does that work, when one day someone might identify as a boy/girl and the next a rainbow otter or unicorn.

So. Tired. I'm 33, if I identify as a 70 year old, will the government give me my state pension?

Thought not.

What respects would those be then?
