Apologies but I've name changed as this is my home town, am a fairly regular poster of around 9 years but thought you lot of vipers would be interested in this.

Glad to see the reaction from parents forced a u-turn, and glad to see the majority of the comments on the article.

Oooooooh, let me think.

You might think that, but I couldn’t possibly say Grin

What's worrying is the swift U-turn

So it went.

Unnamed org contacts school. (Out of the blue? Existing relationship? What was the trigger? I imagine that orgs are working through all schools).

This org emails/ phones/ sends info/ has meeting/ whatever with school. Head? Governors? Safeguarding person? A person or some people from the school.

Whatever they say persuades school to make these changes with no consultation etc and apparently no thought at all.

Parents children say WTF.

School reverses decision immediately.

So as soon as the blindingly obvious issues were mentioned they thought oh yeah let's not do this.

Why had the issues not occurred to them before?
Why had they not consulted parents/ students?

How did the issues which were so obvious not even cross their minds when making this decision?

What is going on that this keeps happening? Just oh yeah cool fine we'll just do that then thanks.

Not to mention it's illegal for schools.

What are they being told and how. So that they behave like this?

@NiceGerbil

'Scenario 1) My daughter doesn’t want a boy changing next to her, what if he looks at her body? For example, in this scenario it would not be appropriate to remove the trans* person from the changing rooms if a concern is raised by a parent or carer. In this situation, it would be far more appropriate to look at offering an alternative changing arrangement for the child who feels uncomfortable around the trans* person. A Human Rights response would be to state that although the individual in question may have the body of a boy, they are in every other respect a girl and as such have the right under the Equality Act to change with the girls and to be treated fairly as such. It is the responsibility of members of staff to support both trans* students and cisgender students to feel comfortable around one another.'

There is no scenario 2.

Interesting that was the only one given.

This is such utter bullshit. That girls should be isolated from female facilities if they aren’t comfortable with having boys in them.

From this example though it seems that schools are spouting this stuff and changing policies etc.

Without giving it any thought whatsoever.

Notice how no one dares be named. Very sinister.

To be charitable, so many primary heads are buried under govt paperwork they don't have the time to read the small print and are happy to farm it out to a 'reputable' outside body.
