Hana contraceptive pill

I’ve just followed an ad on here for the Hana contraceptive pill and I was pleased to see that it said it was for women and people with uteruses.

I just wanted to say well done to them on the wording.

Since we're not just doing biological.

CMcA21 · 28/08/2021 10:40

@AnneLovesGilbert some people are women but don’t have a uterus for medical reasons or have transitioned from male. Some people were born as women but no longer identify as a woman and therefore still have a uterus but the term ‘women and people with uteruses’ is progressive and doesn’t exclude non-binary people who have female reproductive organs but do not identify as women and therefore might feel uncomfortable about the wording being just ‘women’. Hope that helps on educating you on the matter

Whatwouldscullydo · 28/08/2021 10:42

Woman is not an identity though.

Its a word used to describe females of the human species. That's it.

Contraception is based on sex. Identity is irrelevant

ArtemesiaK · 28/08/2021 10:43

I can't believe that there are people out there, having sex with men and knowing that they need contraception, who will still insist that they're not included in the word "woman" and need their own special term!?

CMcA21 · 28/08/2021 10:46

@Whatwouldscullydo irrelevant to you but not to those people who have gender dysphoria or are questioning identity. Not sure why it bothers you if you don’t fall in to that group of people?

Not sure you're educating anyone CMcA21 More attempting to indoctrinate people into believing an incoherent regressive ideology ,

Whatwouldscullydo · 28/08/2021 10:50

Being an adult and human of the female sex class is not an identity but a physical reality.

Tibtom · 28/08/2021 10:53

the term ‘women and people with uteruses’ is progressive

Progressing to where exactly?

CMcA21 · 28/08/2021 10:56

@MrsOvertonsWindow 😂😂😂

@Tibtom a more inclusive and liberal society

GCmiddle · 28/08/2021 11:01

Who/where are all these men who are having penetrative vaginal sex with people who aren't women ?

KittenKong · 28/08/2021 11:03

Lord help them of the get pregnant. That won’t work with their narrative will it?

CMcA21 · 28/08/2021 11:04

@KittenKong that’s the whole point of contraception really isn’t it

I think you’ll find this movement identifies as being liberal and inclusive, but is in fact regressive, sexist and authoritarian.

As one gets older, one learns that how people describe themselves, and often honestly think of themselves, can be quite different to who they really are, or at least how they act in the world, which from the point of view of everyone who is not them is the thing that matters.

Or more succinctly, if you want to know who someone is, ignore what they say and watch what they do.

Enough4me · 28/08/2021 11:10

Why not use the word female then?

If women means women and men, just refer to females TM are still female so it is inclusive for them.

sanluca · 28/08/2021 11:11

A more liberal and progressive society for whom exactly? Women? By denying biological sex exists and women need to move over and be more understanding? By making it impossible to talk about sexism as you can't identify the group of humans who are more likely to experience it? By obscuring women in healthcare even more?

Don't make me laugh. First change the language for men and people with penises, then we can talk.

Blibbyblobby · 28/08/2021 11:18

It is quite hilarious when looked at objectively.

The movement redefines Woman as something in one’s personality instead of a simple description of physical sex, then finds it needs ever more hair-splitting labels for all the people who are not women by the new definition but still need to be included in the group that now has no name.

Keeping the word woman as a simple physical descriptor and putting the effort into refuting cultural gender constructions tied to sex would have been so much simpler and also genuinely progressive.

And of course, there’s no reason that keeping the word Woman’s original and useful meaning precludes the gender identity currently labelled as woman also existing and have its own, separate name as well.

(However, given that we are where we are and gender ideology has managed to make an incoherent mess out of a previously useful and indeed, when it comes to fighting sexism, essential word, Hana’s phrasing is fair enough)

Nothing is 100% though is it?

I can’t see how someone without a uterus needs the female contraceptive pill.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 28/08/2021 11:37

@CMcA21

Tibtom I think it’s clear it’s not for ‘young girls’ who haven’t started their periods yet/ aren’t sexually active. I think the language is more inclusive for people who may be transitioning or questioning gender identity or for non-binary people who still biologically have a uterus
Oh they know this. They just don't like it.

Everyone is “non binary” so woman covers that.
Whatwouldscullydo · 28/08/2021 11:40

If you treat all these things as an identity you then have to provide some kind of definition of what constitues a woman/man/ non.binary identity is so that people know if they have one or not and can work out if they cone under woman or person with a uterus.

CMcA21 · 28/08/2021 11:42

@KittenKong that’s when people have the choice of getting an abortion then isn’t it

@Bambooshoot didn’t say that they do, I was just breaking it down for someone who said they wanted to be educated on the matter

@SirVixofVixHall I’m not non-binary and neither is my partner. I’m a female and he’s a male. He doesn’t have a uterus and I do. But if I was non-binary I wouldn’t be a woman but I’d still have a uterus

CMcA21 · 28/08/2021 11:44

@Whatwouldscullydo I think most people know if they have a uterus or not

Whatwouldscullydo · 28/08/2021 11:45

And why doesn't woman include non.binary?

Are they not an adult female of the human species? What word do you use to describe a juvenile human female or an adult human female?

What do you tell the.police wheb they go missing so.that everyone is looking fir the right person?

CMcA21 · 28/08/2021 11:45

@MolyHolyGuacamole I’m realising that 😂 bit odd but they better get used to it because this is the norm now
