Again you really can't use it as a proxy for any type of real life opinions of real people.
I think the problem is that twitter has become practically the whole of public discourse. It's where journalists source stories. It's modes of being are definitely not just confined to its own weird bubbles.
I'm not a twitter user but this thread was shared by several people who I know in real life. So I'd hesitate to say it's not reflective of real opinions, because I know they would stand by this and probably long for the day someone asks them to sign a petition so they can have a twitter meltdown too.
On the other hand, most people aren't on twitter. And I do think the vast majority of people my age and older don't think this way. I'm not so sure about younger people, though.
