I have to say as someone who has fundraised for Macmillan lots, including running Marathons. I am utterly disappointed they are using 'Gender Neutral' language when talking about Cervical Cancer.

But still only Men that need to worry about Prostate Cancer.

@KittenKong

“ Macmillan is a member of Stonewall’s Diversity Champions Programme” and can’t rule out using gendered intelligence in the future....

Nice to know where your donations are going!

That’s concerning, i realise they need to take diversity and inclusion seriously but to waste money on such a biased organisation

@Ifyourefeelingsinister

I don't find that statement by Macmillan reassuring. Yes be inclusive but please don't erase the word woman because that is the very opposite of inclusive.
Agreed, they didn't address the need for their language to be accessible to people where English is not their first language or for those with limited vocabulary

Their testicular cancer page has been updated to include trans.

The fact that they are Stonewall champions is enough for me to find a woman friendly charity to donate to - does anyone have any suggestions?

Excellent. Nothing wrong with inclusion as long as it doesn't exclude the majority.

Assigned male at birth? Oh do bugger off...

Donate to your local hospital or refuge, or food bank or children’s charity.

I won't give money to a charity that is a Stonewall Diversity Champion. Surely charitieis can see, given recent press and organisations distancing themselves from Stonewall, that this looks bad.

Seemingly they have money to splash around if they pay Stonewall all that money and don't need mine!

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 29/07/2021 15:32

That explanation is so fucking patronising!

“For example, we might explain that if you have had gender realignment surgery or are intersex, your body may be different in some ways to what we describe here”. You’d bloody hope so if someone has gone to all the trouble of having surgery that they’d be well aware of the differences in their body from someone who was born that way.

It’s so infantilising isn’t it. It just sounds like when adults are talking to young children and don’t want to upset them.
