Not sure if there is a thread already.

Generally if something is being reported the next day, MN will already know...

Good.

I nipped over to the existing thread check the URL 2 minutes ago and came back to find others had already got here! Mumsnet really is the go-to for feminist news. Smile

Well maybe she should have restricted her headline manifesto issues to green issues, and remembered that they are the Green Party , not the Pink and Blue.

Over the last 5 years or so I have heard more from and about the Greens on trans issues than anything environmental.

Beamur · 15/07/2021 08:23

Bugger all about the environment in that article either.
Really Greens, you've got one job. Focus on that.

GCAcademic · 15/07/2021 08:32

^This. I don’t even consider them to be a party which is primarily concerned with environmental issues any more.

Estherlee · 15/07/2021 08:37

It hasn't been a party just for environmentalist issues for a long time. Green parties have long become generalist, left-of-centre parties.

CatherinaJTV · 15/07/2021 08:41

That's a shame and a loss to the Greens. Not sure how it is going to improve their record on trans phobia, but hopefully a wakeup call.

Abhannmor · 15/07/2021 08:42

Very depressing. England and Wales need third parties. Plaid is already captured of course. Such a pity as Greens had been doing quite well.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/07/2021 08:43

That's a shame and a loss to the Greens.

Not in the least.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/07/2021 08:44

The Greens are the most pomo-addled party of them all, by some way. What more do TRAs expect?

Only if they abandon Westminster aspirations

They need policies on everything that a government does, if they are to break out from local level.

Hmm
Floisme · 15/07/2021 08:54

If the Challenor case and the Verita investigation couldn't wake up the Green Party then I don't think anything can.

Beowulfa · 15/07/2021 09:01

"A vocal supporter of trans equality, Berry had said one of the first things she would do as mayor would be to set up a commission on the rights of trans Londoners."

Yes, this is definitely top of the priority list for Londoners. Nobody's interested in the boring old-fashioned stuff like transport, crime, housing, air pollution, waste collection etc.

I really hope I can vote Green again some day.

mollythemeerkat · 15/07/2021 09:07

No.

Total and utter capitulation. And even that won't be enough.
OhHolyJesus · 15/07/2021 09:19

Is Berry the first victim of purity spiral politics? Judging by her statement taking side swipes she wasn't even prepared to fall on her sword (you know the ones, with the colours, the ones you take into the ladies loo).

MarianneUnfaithful · 15/07/2021 09:20

Of course, and on a whole political theory and philosophy, not a rag bag of lobbying issues. That is their trap.

FloralBunting · 15/07/2021 09:25

I mean, sheesh, if being one of the parties that vomited Challenor onto an unsuspecting world, has a misogynist as co-leader of the Green Party Women's group and calls women 'non men' isn't pro trans enough, I really dread to think what the endgame is.

MarianneUnfaithful · 15/07/2021 10:01

@Floisme

The Verita report that was kept as hidden and buried as possible?
Floisme · 15/07/2021 10:12

Yes that's the one.

highame · 15/07/2021 10:16

Why do political parties think we are so dumb Verita they can bury reports? How does society give that impression?

.....and, there are too many left parties, all fighting for the Student vote I think. Has it not occurred to them to survey the public, they will quickly find out that the majority is centre with leanings either a bit left or a bit right. Didn't Jeremy Corbyn say that the Overton window had shifted left and did everyone then believe him without checking??

Trouble is, the Greens did well in local elections taking votes from Labour and Lib Dems so this 'student' cohort may not be as tribal as required by the parties. Interesting

highame · 15/07/2021 10:17

should be brackets or something around (Verita)
