Apologies for the Daily Mail link but I’m glad that they are bringing sunshine to this.

Members of the BBC's Pride Board, which comprises LGBT staff, want to attend commissioning meetings and play a role in 'editorial processes' on the show, according to documents seen by The Mail on Sunday.

Who is on this BBC Pride Board? I've googled it and can find nothing.

Cabinfever10 · 26/06/2021 23:57

Why am I not surprised by this its more #nodebate with what I hope is a massive overreach however the BBC is a stonewall diversity champion. This just goes to show why they need to get rid of Stonewall and all there allies

FemaleAndLearning · 27/06/2021 00:01

Global Butterflies are going to train the BBC team! I would love to be a fly on that wall if Justin Webb is forced on to it. I asked a question to a Global Butterflies presenter and got a very arrogant reply.
Stonewall etc. Do not like to be challenged. Also Pink News CEO didn't come on to do an interview he came on to make statements, it was very embarrassing.

TheHandmadeTails · 27/06/2021 00:23

I hope they tell them where to go.

SmokedDuck · 27/06/2021 00:43

Ok, so what the heck is it with Pride organisations. Isn't their job supposed to be running a festival?

Here in Canada Pride organisations in different cities seem to be obsessed with harassing libraries.

How does being qualified to run a parade mean you are qualified to pontificate on freedom of information or advise the editorial board of a broadcaster?

I think it's the BBC pride network. An article from 2018 www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2018/lgbt-culture-and-progression gives Karen Millington and Matt Weaver as co chairs.
SpindleWhorl · 27/06/2021 01:02

Thanks, Zutt.

I note the ominous phrase, 'input from Stonewall' ...

EsmaCannonball · 27/06/2021 01:08

It's very Soviet; all cultural output must be vetted and approved by the Party. How sinister.

SpindleWhorl · 27/06/2021 01:25

Isn't it just, Esma? All cultural output to be assessed through the prism of Queer Theory and in keeping with Pomo principles.

Mollyollydolly · 27/06/2021 01:30

Justin Webb's having none of it.

Oh that's hilarious.

Someone should tell them that the time to massively up the ante is not when your opponent has all the aces.

porridgecake · 27/06/2021 03:41

Justin Webb should have his own fan club.

SpindleWhorl · 27/06/2021 03:45

He will

NiceGerbil · 27/06/2021 04:23

Glad it's in the news.

It's pretty shocking.

FannyCann · 27/06/2021 04:31

I don't think Justin's always been that helpful when interviewing people who have run into problems with trans activism. I could be wrong and thinking of pm show. I suppose it's a gradual process of having your eyes opened. I suspect Ben Cohen helped him along and I got the impression he really liked Jess de Wahl and that episode really hardened his attitude, he seemed very sympathetic to her and the logic of her arguments.

I think I might sign up

I think he's always been pretty critical of the whole thing. Are you thinking of Evan Davies? He's a gay man who is all TWAW
DaisiesandButtercups · 27/06/2021 07:01

I support the BBC and public service broadcasting, I don’t want to see its demise. I fear that this, using Global Butterflies to train staff and deliberately seeking to be biased in favour of gender identity ideology whilst suppressing gender critical voices, is absolutely playing into the hands of those who want to undermine and finally destroy the BBC. It is tragic, I don’t want us to lose all the fantastic stuff that the BBC does better than anyone else because of its funding model and remit. Queer theory destroys everything it touches, that is its mission and purpose after all.

JustcameoutGC · 27/06/2021 07:13

I was asked to provide comment for the BBC strategy refresh. I said their coverage of this issue was shocking, lacked balance and was clearly influenced by lobbyists. Hmmm haven't heard back from that or another complaint I made. Must poke at that.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 27/06/2021 07:29

For the most marginalised and disadvantaged group EVAH, they sure do have a lot of influence.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 27/06/2021 07:34

It’s very obvious over the last few years that BBC are being heavily pressured to promote “trans” and silence women and it has been very effective.

FannyCann · 27/06/2021 07:38

Probably! I often listen to Today driving into work and PM driving home so forgive my confusion! But I was struck how he dealt with Ben and then very soon after interviewed Jess very sympathetically and by the time he interviewed her a second time after the RA apology he was totally on her side. Of course she was a great interviewee so he was probably enjoying the chat but it seemed almost like a watershed, letting the wider public really see where all this leads.

Anyway, let's hope no one pulls rank and forces him through re-education with Butterflies before letting the censors get to work on the programme.

Xoxoxoxoxoxox · 27/06/2021 08:03

I feel it’s important for the survival of the BBC to be balanced and not captured by lobby groups and forced into watered down pro-trans mantras. Their audience is astute enough to spot this and its their credibility on the line green.

ArabellaScott · 27/06/2021 08:09

That article in the Times about Stonewall dishing out points and withholding them- has anyone done an FOI into the BBC and Stone walls correspondence?

Forgotthebins · 27/06/2021 08:17

Surely only editors vet the news? I mean they must have lots of guidelines but surely no one group gets to vet the news. If it was down to me every other news story would be about disability and carers, but I think my personal bias might not be the right qualities for an editor…
