I had noticed that too. Put that in your intersectionality pipe and smoke it.

To see Alison targeted by Stonewall in the way she was, was so chilling. It is I think the most illuminating example of how far they have strayed from the path. They were targeting a black, working class, lesbian barrister. How does that even happen. It would be like amnesty international declaring way on Nelson Mandela.

JustcameoutGC · 14/06/2021 12:47

Or war even.

Rejoiningperson · 14/06/2021 12:51

I hope that they don’t get too much abuse. It’s not easy to being both female and BAME - in terms of discrimination and having to fight for many things. So their individual paths may have been quite tough to get where they are.

How sad really and ironic, that there couldn’t have been a more collaborative and inclusive push in the first place from certain trans groups. As the whole point is to ensure that we as a society are more inclusive and less discriminatory.

RoyalCorgi · 14/06/2021 12:56

Maya Forstater isn't BAME, but good point about the others.

Absolutely! I think they’re so incredibly brave and inspiring.

I had to google BAME: Black, Asian and minority ethnic. I hadn't noticed that about the women before. Just never thought about it I suppose.
Siablue · 14/06/2021 13:01

There is also the amazing Racquel Rosario-Sanchez.

Hibo Wardare and her campaigning against FGM.

Southhall Black Sisters fighting for the right to provide a single sex service for black and Asian women who have experienced domestic abuse. As well as their campaign for migrant women to have access to refuges.

I really enjoy Sister Outriders’ writing on this I have learned a lot from her.

I was also pleased to see Tiffany who has been banned from Twitter at Maya’s picnic.

Yes! Absolutely!

I knew there were many more but when I came to write I drew a blank. Thank you for adding 😊

I noticed as well. It is amazing to see and I was wondering why this was the case. Part of me thinks it is because they are more inclined to fight to overcome barriers as they had to to get where they are now? Is it because a lot of middle class white women are very twaw because the fallout doesn't impact them so they don't see the issues? Is it because middle class white women are shot down before they even have a chance to speak (The Karen phenomenon being an excellent example of this) so they try but get silenced immediately? Could it be that they are there but the focus is more on BAME women to get away from the slurs of being alt right pearl clutchers? Could it be because we are all women regardless of race and this is just what happened?

No idea btw, could be all of the above, could be none. But just something that popped into my head.

sanluca · 14/06/2021 13:35

Just to add, I in awe of the BAME women who are doing this. Because I fully realise it is even more difficult to do than if you are white.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 14/06/2021 13:37

It’s very noticeable when the TRAs constantly claim that the GC argument is exclusionary to BAME women.
Especially when TRAs seem to be lead by white, middle class men. Especially when you read the comments made to these women by these men.

highame · 14/06/2021 13:38

I wonder who spread the myth that if you're from an ethnic minority, background you some how have to be TRA. That doesn't work, it is highly unlikely that ethnic groups are homogenous in their political leanings

adviceseekingnamechanger · 14/06/2021 13:42

Love it. Puts a nice stop to the whole 'you're all just white middle class bitches' argument. I'm BAME myself and I see TRAs constantly dismissing us for being 'Karens' ie too white

nauticant · 14/06/2021 13:45

If you ever want an interesting contrast to a declaration of political beliefs that are permitted for BAME women, go and have a look at lipstickalley.com.

I’ve seen some of those comments on Twitter. They’re stomach turning. I genuinely have no idea how they manage to get away with being sexist and racist in one tweet, yet women are permanently banned for stating simple biological facts about their own bodies!

Also Lucy Masoud - luluchops on Twitter. She's funny, clear and to the point, excellent whenever I've heard her (mosty on the radio) and chronically underused by the media I think.

NonnyMouse1337 · 14/06/2021 14:16

I'm British Indian and very proud to see the pushback on gender ideology by women from all backgrounds and ethnicities in the UK and elsewhere.

I'm a woman first. My skin colour is second. Because no matter where in the world I might be, I am at risk of male violence and sexism. There is no way that I can opt-out of being female, no matter what gender identity I adopt.

It has been wonderful to see such solidarity between women in spite of our differences and disagreements.

highame · 14/06/2021 14:19

Nicely put Nonny
