I couldn't see this posted any where else .. apologies if I've missed it.
Helen Joyce posted this on twitter yesterday Oxford Uni's's submission to Stonewall's WorkPlace Equality Index. It's 100 pages, don't try and read it all, but well worth a look. PLEASE look at the various illustrations at the end.

What a complete and utter waste of time and it makes Oxford look like a complete laughing stock.
I cant stop laughing. Still don't know why the giraffe is there. Is it one of Dawn Butlers?

How many pages - how many? Crikey, I have a monthly report ;about a dozen pages) and that takes me a whole day to produce. A recent report for clients took 3 of us 2 days to pull together a six page report.

Whose job is it to pull this together - and what aren’t they doing in the meantime? Their time coat alone (plus the accrediting fee and relevant changes/work done to comply) must be massive.

Tibtom · 03/06/2021 16:47

What is it with these random animal behaviours?

Black widow spiders and praying mantis females kill and eat their mates after sex. As the QWERTY+ brigade are so keen on following animal examples do they think this is also an ok example to follow?

Many males from different species will kill the young of their rivals after seeing him off. Does oxford uni support men killing the children of previous partners when a women forms a new relationship?

Though I do wonder how the author of this piece knows that one of the giraffes hasn't identified as female?

Am I not supposed to do that then?

ChristinaXYZ · 03/06/2021 17:01

The poor old mis-represented Equality Act 2010 - does any one ever actually read it?

Just say it was a rough sex game gone wrong and no one will mind at all, Toffee. Sad

There is a great thread about Brunel University initially defending violent threats on twitter earlier with details on their Stonewalled policy doc

Dear god, the specious scientific claims in the section on the wrasse in that "Out in Oxford" document..... transgenderism isn't a choice, it happens because of hormones in the womb? On what evidence?

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 03/06/2021 21:25

Good grief - good find by Tish who quotes from Brunel's SW'd Non-Binary policy. This is exactly the sort of inaccuracy we see on FWR all the time from some posters - interpreting phrases with precise meanings in ways to suit individual perspectives.

Hooray for Brunel Uni being a Stonewall Diversity Champion.

They must be so proud.

It’s amazing how, no matter how shocking, outrageous and unbelievable other things you’ve seen are, to the point where you might imagine you couldn’t be shocked etc any more, something still always comes along to make you feel that up until now you had been existing in a universe where there was at least a semblance of order and reason, but NOW??!!

This from Oxford University? I mean, I knew they were captured, of course they are, but still. The 135 page submission. 45 pages of Guidance and Policy. They’re shocking. But the LGBT+ 101 is in a league of its own, isn’t it? I mean... who? Just what? How?

What is going on with the brain/genitals/gonads malarkey? Why are the gonads in the knees? Why are the trans and “cis” diagrams the same? Can someone explain to me what the fuck any of that is supposed to represent?

There’s one thing they get right though. P 192 -
Nothing to do with sexuality

Well, yes! Exactly! So the author of this seminal work no doubt supports and applauds the formation of the LGBA, seeing as being trans has NOTHING TO DO WITH SEXUALITY and these two distinct things should never be conflated into one homogenous mass. And people who are discriminated against on the grounds of their sexuality are perfectly entitled to have representation and support specifically tailored to them.

Quite sure the author(s) will be in full agreement with that.

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 03/06/2021 22:16

The giraffe skeleton though...

YellowFish12 · 03/06/2021 22:36

This... this has to be a joke surely? It’s not real? It’s like they got a bunch of woke 14 year olds to do it?

AfternoonToffee · 03/06/2021 22:44

The Brunel Uni reply shows exactly what the issue is - that there has to be a parroted response, no thought, no nuance, no consideration of what has actually been said - just support Trans Rights at all costs.

Oh and trigender, how do they come up with this stuff?

Michael Bigg dissects Oxford University's Submission to Stonewall
sex-matters.org/posts/updates/oxford/

FindTheTruth · 06/06/2021 15:46

"Oxford now plans to “Invite Stonewall to meet with the Finance team in charge of procurement over 100K to explore ways to strengthen the University’s approach”

FindTheTruth · 06/06/2021 15:48

"Oxford paid Stonewall £6,000 to train 26 Allies in 2017; this training is now replicated within the University. Allies must “visibly signal their commitment to LGBT equality” by means of “email signatures, badges, lanyards and mugs”"

FindTheTruth · 06/06/2021 15:49

"Even more disturbing is what happened during a training session on Trans Awareness in 2019. This training was provided by Gendered Intelligence, as the result of a commitment by someone attending LGBT+ Ally training (as mentioned above). In an unprecedented step, the University agreed to impose a code of conduct for the training session, which included the injunction to “Refrain from using language or putting forward views intended to undermine the validity of trans and gender diverse identities”. One of the attendees asked some pointed questions at the end of the session, which reflected her disbelief in gender identity. After a complaint by Gendered Intelligence, she was subjected to a disciplinary investigation culminating in a charge of transphobic harassment."

I am crying at the giraffe!! What the Fuck have I just read (from 188)!!

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 07/06/2021 00:28

Holy shit, FindTheTruth, that is nightmarish stuff.

Oxford University. WTAFuckingF?

SmokedDuck · 07/06/2021 00:48

About this procurement element.

If there is some moral obligation to ensure suppliers are LGBT+ friendly, does this also mean that there is an obligation they are friendly to other protected characteristics, or maybe somehow represent diversity along these lines? And might those groups sometimes have different perspectives on some of these issues?

For example, you could include religious diversity by contracting with a Catholic monastery to buy cheese to be used in cafeterias or other eating establishments of the university, or an orthodox Jewish bakery to supply kosher bread for use by Jewish students eating in such places. But might they not have the sorts of views Stonewall would demand about sexuality, or gender.

Sure, there are some organisations that not many would be comfortable contracting with, but there is something a little creepy about demanding that everyone you have a business relationship agrees with you about everything. It's kind of the opposite of diversity, isn't it?

That last picture is a pink meat flute isn’t it? It is the final word and an admission of what the whole document has been about.

You're unconvinced by the explanations about the pink plastic recorder? (You're not alone.)

About this procurement element

And just to add - isn't the whole point of good procurement practice that you don't give preferential treatment to particular suppliers, but that contracts are awarded 'blind' on the basis of best value?

You can assign ethical standards of course - sustainable sourcing of materials is a common one, along with no child or sweatshop labour in the chain - but compelling the successful bidder to hold certain controversial beliefs is bonkers and possibly unlawful in the UK.
