Scottish woman told would be charged for homophobic and transphobic tweets

On Wednesday April the 28th 2021 I received a call from a PC Laura Daley from police scotland requesting i attend an interview for homophobic and transphobic tweets under the milacious communications act.

I was asked to attend that coming Friday, she told me I had to attend East Kilbride police station so I could be then transported to Cathcart police station in a police car because I would have to go to a police station where there is holding cells, I would be then processed, questioned and then most likely charged.

I told her I would not be attending any interview on that day especially with it being a bank holiday weekend because my autistic twins needed me and I was scared I would be held all weekend.

To this she told me she would attend my house with social workers for my boys.

I contacted a solicitor straight away and he was unable to get PC Daley so for the first bank holiday in May I sent my disabled twins away for fear of this officer carrying out this threat.

This absolute nonsense has been hanging over my head for a month, I can barely sleep
or eat and I still don't know what the offending tweet is, my new interview has been scheduled for Thursday the 27th May, I will find out what I am supposed to have said at that point and if I will be indeed charged, again at another bank holiday, I just want to say, anyone who knows me, knows I am not homophobic or transphobic, I am a hard working mummy who would fight to the end for the safety and dignity of women and girls and for my vulnerable twinnies.

It's horrifying. I really thought she'd be in 'for a chat' and they were just trying to intimidate her.

Every woman who has an opinion is under attack, not just Marion. We all need to turn out and support her, and make sure that this appalling decision to kerb the freedom of speech in Scotland is publicized as much as possible, expose it for what it is ! please get this news out to as many people as you can.

Marion is naturally upset that the Police have decided to press ahead with charges. The past few weeks have been a nightmare for Marion and her family and it seems there is no end in sight.

Have they said exactly what she is being hauled into court about or who raised the complaint?

Weirdly, this has made me bolder, if not slightly more careful in the phrasing of my tweets. I don't know anyone in real life who has time for this shit. The police could well turn up at my door. Who knows?

I'd hope she at least has been told which bloody tweets they were. This whole thing has been a disgraceful show by the police.

Someone said on Twitter, when we know what the tweet was we should all retweet it everyday until the trial. I think I'm going to get on a train for the first time since last March to go and protest this. It has made me so bloody angry. We should organise UK wide to show our support.

If it were possibly inflammatory/harmful then that would be a bad idea as it would suggest her tweets had a bigger impact.

I like this idea, (depending on the actual tweet of course), especially if it can be somehow condensed into a hashtag.

Fucking sickening. Be kind or be charged.

And Brunel university's response, when confronted with pictures of guns posted as threats by their student say '@Transalorian We support and stand by our Transgender staff and students. Trans rights are human rights.'

Women in Scotland need your help please. It was bound to come to this because of the ridiculous hate crime bill and we cannot sit by and allow hard won freedoms to be trampled over and freedom of speech outlawed.

I see there will be a crowdfund. I will be donating and I suspect many many more will be too.

We need to start reporting these threats to the police.

The 'acceptance without exception' is doing a lot of heavy lifting there if it's automatically exculpatory of threats of violence and such.

Is this an example of the value for money that consulting SW brings to an organisation?

Transalorian can be reported to the Met.

Given that Marion has been charged, I do not feel safe reporting anything to the police.
