Because it's in Scotland,

Most of the panel are lying.

There's one bloke who is telling the truth.

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

I was horrified at the green woman. So authoritarian and intolerant. No questioning of TWAW allowed. Really aggressive about it. The greens are meant to be all fluffy and cooperative and they really really aren't on this issue.
She was also utterly clueless. She said that there were no problems in Ireland with self ID, and changing the GRA won't have any effect on whether male prisoners are sent to women's prisons.
WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 30/04/2021 22:38

She also talked over the guy (con?) to prevent him from pointing out the issues with males in womens prisons

WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 30/04/2021 22:40

He did well. He managed to get his point across for those who don't know what a TW is
A fully intact male in a women's prison
Nice and clear

MsTSwift · 30/04/2021 23:17

Not listened but world gone mad when Tory men are protecting women and leftie women falling over themselves to throw our (their?!) rights and protections away...

Thecatonthemat · 01/05/2021 00:28

Please can some women in Scotland phone in to Any Answers on Saturday to counter this idiocy. All the women knew more but chose to repeat the mantra without a thought for half their voting constituency. Three stars for the Tory who got his points across in the short time allowed. All about the trans, be kind , no longer does it for many of us.

MyMajesty · 01/05/2021 00:31

@daringdoris

Slater did not come over well, at any point.
Some people thought, early in the campaign, that she was more palatable than Harvie. They were mistaken.

Any Questions? Self identification is actually being discussed
Anovaneway · 01/05/2021 10:38

I really really wanted Chris Mason to ask which rights trans people don't have.

There aren’t any. Trans people have rights, including the right to change their legal sex. But there are some who want to take that right away.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/05/2021 10:51

Some people don't think rewriting history to conceal that the person is a member of the opposite sex should ever have been coded into law or seen as a "right", without any public consultation or consideration of the ramifications for women. It's a free country, isn't it? But this is about self ID, not the tiny number of biological males who have a GRC.

Anovaneway · 01/05/2021 11:00

Yes it’s a free country. But the question was ‘what is a woman?’ Not specifically self ID.

nauticant · 01/05/2021 11:04

Murdo Fraser was the one member of the panel who was willing to think about this and he was able to identify that self ID is at the heart of the conflict between women's rights and trans activist demands.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 01/05/2021 14:18

Just listening this in the car. Utterly appalling! No one even answered the question “ what is a woman”, lots of confusion over sex and gender. And the point about the sign in the woman’s saying a male cleaner was present...duh ...why do think we have a sign then.
So cross.

GNCQ · 01/05/2021 14:33

Why were these specific women chosen for this BBC broadcast? There must be many many women and people who have a diverse range of views on self ID yet the BBC chose the most vocal pro-tra females they could find to sit on this panel to oppose the views of a Tory man?

If anyone thinks the BBC does not have an agenda and is "impartial". Think again.

GNCQ · 01/05/2021 14:35

Agreed.

nauticant · 01/05/2021 14:39

They often have a panel of 4 people, 3 politicians from main political parties, and 1 commentator type. The political parties selected reflect the respective power they have in the area the broadcast comes from. The politicians chosen are either local to the area or heavy hitters proposed by the parties, in the case of there being a major political controversy that's leading the news, the party will usual go for putting up heavy hitters over a local person.

Bluesername · 01/05/2021 14:40

Listening to Any Answers now. 5 minutes left and they haven't got on to this question yet, despite announcing it at the start of the programme...

I saw Dr Nic Williams say something about this right to change legal sex and changes to the process for getting a GRC. Her point was that yes, it could (should?) be made easier for those who are already eligible - in her words, those with severe gender dysphoria, living in role, and who were adults but not opened up to an ever wider group of people falling under the ever expanding trans umbrella.

endofthelinefinally · 01/05/2021 14:46

Well. There is a surprise. No time to address this question. Hmm

aaaaaaaaaaand they didn't. Quelle surprise.

Unbelievable, isn't it? Angry

endofthelinefinally · 01/05/2021 14:49

It just brings home the level of institutional capture.

FannyCann · 01/05/2021 14:49

How ridiculous. BBC just won't allow any unscripted answers will they. Censorship in action.

nauticant · 01/05/2021 14:53

This is normal for the programme. They open up Any Answers often with half a dozen topics and only get round to taking calls on 2 or 3, with those being the ones having the highest profile in the news.

Anovaneway · 01/05/2021 15:40

Well that was disappointing. They used to cover more than 2 or 3 topics even if they crammed them in. I wonder if anyone from here tried calling in.

Nancy Not sure if DrNW has said that but I agree with that position. Others don’t. (Not a hive mind, etc.)
