There is a pattern that emerges sometimes, where the discrimination against young female transitioners becomes apparent. This booklet is good at highlighting that.
This discrimination shows in the lack of concern, or even acknowledgement, of the significant health risks that female transitioners experience vs those of males. (This booklet does touch on those I notice).
It shows in the lack of being able to acknowledge the differences in the past cohorts of transitioners and the cohort today which for young people has a skew towards the majority being female.
It shows in the lack of questions being asked and thoroughly studied as to why this change in demographic is occurring. And it shows in the lack of discussion and research, whether forced lack or simply the lack through lax procedures.
The discrimination against female transitioners is appalling when you see it. But it is so clear when you start reading widely. Everyone perpetuating the ‘most vulnerable’ mantras actually miss the fact that again young women and girls are again forgotten. They are the ‘invisible women’ in that health sector.
That is why mantras like this don’t work.
The mantras are hiding the sexist discrimination of females that exists within the community itself.
Changing the language definitions has the effect of hiding their needs by grouping these females needs with the males they identify with. But with all the focus being on the transwomen, who is fighting for the needs of these females? I rarely see a post by a male that highlights the plight of transmen with any real understanding or empathy.
