I donate to Crowdfunders - not much but whatever I can. I have signed up to Fair Play for Women, SexMatters etc.

I'm in Ireland and have signed up to The Countess Didn't Fight for This and attended some of their online seminars.
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately Wink ) I'm not on Twitter, or Facebook or Instagram so I don't have the same ability to retweet etc.

But I feel the need to do something more tangible, to use this momentum to make more of a change...Just wondering if other women like me feel the need to do more, and if we could come up with ideas about how to rally this into more coordinated action? For example, targeted emailing of our TDs etc.
Thanks.

Emailing TDs is a great idea OP. I know there have been previous threads about this so hopefully an Irish MNetter can hop on and advise - I wonder if it's worth mentioning them in the thread title?

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 23/04/2021 13:03

Thanks, I'm just looking for maybe some templates or good wording to use - plus I feel that if it was just one email they could easily ignore it. Whereas if there was a group of us maybe they would listen.

Not sure how to change the thread title.

If you report your opening post and put a comment in the box with an updated title - ask MNHQ if they can change it

Hi OP, there is some useful content at page 5 here, from Just 13:51 post: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4218929-Fairplay-for-Women-to-address-Women-Equalities-Select-Committee-hearing-on-GRA-Reform-on-21st-April?pg=5

Also, not sure if this poster is still here:

(They may have been one of the MNetters who founded: sex-matters.org/about/)

I think the most important thing to do is talk about this - any opening that comes up in conversation use it to tell people what is going on. The more people talk about this the more people will either become aware or, if they are already aware, will be delighted to find someone who is GC and you may help them in turn to start raising awareness. This erosion of women's rights is thriving by gradually creeping in everywhere whilst people either don't notice or are too scared to point out what is happening.

Thanks so much for those links, I am going to email my local TDs in the next few days. I might actually get a response, particularly as the gender neutral toilets debate is in the media at the moment.

Have you considered just leaving us alone and getting on with your life?
Thelnebriati · 27/04/2021 13:58

Not everyone is in a position to do much, but if you can get online you can read up and maybe take some courses.
I'm going to suggest you read The Equality Act and the Gender Recognition Act. Many people don't, even though they arent very long and are both published online.
As a result, what the law says comes as a surprise to some activists and they end up trying to dismantle them, even though they are pretty much the only human rights legislation we have left and protect us all.

Equality Act;

If you are in a position to, take a safeguarding course.

Snap.

BadGherkin · 27/04/2021 14:11

That was not in response to @Thelnebriati.....

Thelnebriati · 27/04/2021 14:20

You dont think people should read the Equality Act?

Just talking about things with other people - for instance the mixed sexed toilets debate going in in Ireland and saying how you feel is helpful. And if you have kids in school keep an eye out for misinformation and 'be kind' nonsense that disadvantages the girls
