  1. Fair Play For Women VS UK Statistics Authority at Royal Courts of Justice at 10am
  1. The Court of Appeal and Harry/ We Are Fair Cop - The Court of Appeal will examine the validity of the College of Police Hate Crimes Guidance

I wanted to start a thread where any major decisions or outcomes and links to anyone live tweeting or online footage. See you back here tomorrow!

I was trying to follow Harry Miller v the college of policing and Huberside police on Youtube, but it was a bit monotone and the audio wasn't great so I confess I rather lost the will to live during it and i have no idea if it was progress or not. I'd never make a lawyer

Anyone got a sense of how it went?

Xpectations · 09/03/2021 17:19

@stuckinatrap

Glinner did make a good point in response that today’s parallel is actually of the lesbians who are frightened to publicly state their same-sex attraction for fear of reprisals from being labelled a transphobic bigot.

Coffeeandcocopops · 09/03/2021 17:19

It’s possible to sign up to Glinner’s emails. They are very interesting. Its also possible to pay a subscription fee.

Yes. That's true.
They did so well and managed to get an awful lot into the time they had. It is just so good to get these things on the public record.

FindTheTruth · 09/03/2021 17:24

Yes today's parallel being Lesbians was spot on

Whatstheweatherlike · 09/03/2021 17:25

@gardenbird48

So mimmy has archived the old incorrect guidance and is encouraging her followers (which seem to be mostly born male) to fill in the Sex question in the way they see fit.

If they are hiding their trans identity (which seems to be the preferred option) - there will be fewer resources allocated for trans people (and more for women, with an inexplicable reduction in percentage birth rate due to some of the women not having the body type to enable gestation).

I don’t understand why they think this is a good idea. Flowers for Hamster - this must be so frustrating to watch as a trans person who understands the challenges this will create.

Apologies, I'm still catching up and haven't read the full thread but this is terrible advice for transgender individuals. Encouraging people to fill in as they prefer will conceal their transgender status and therefore reduce allocated resources Confused Is this person really so dim that they are suggesting the validation achieved by ticking the preferred box is more important than actually standing up and be counted (and therefore being fairly represented)?
titchy · 09/03/2021 17:25

And the guidance has changed!!!!Grin

FindTheTruth · 09/03/2021 17:26

Good point Ova. perhaps the first point (point 0) should be to NOT copy Canada, Australia, Ireland or America. start with Equal rights and create something to moderate based on it

SirSamuelVimes · 09/03/2021 17:34

Yes. Validation is all. Everything else is secondary.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 09/03/2021 17:40

Glinner will be amped on all the caffeine...

He's a bloody hero. He should also know that 'doing a Mrs Doyle' is family slang for the half-jump half-fall that she immortalised.

Thanks to everyone who updated this thread with info from the court case, too.

PurpleWh1teGreen · 09/03/2021 17:42

Wow! Deep down I didn't expect that even if it is the truth. Well done Dr Nic and team. Brew

PronounssheRa · 09/03/2021 17:46

What mimmy is suggesting will harm trans people.

And once the guidance is changed if they follow mimmymummys advice they will be committing an offence.

don't know about the legal side but it will be a factor when ONS and NISRA and NRS discuss aligning data
Bellringer · 09/03/2021 17:54

Thanku for this thread

Xanthangum · 09/03/2021 17:58

I am just so bowled over by the Swift judgment and just the fact that Helen and Graham were giving evidence, let alone how precise and important it was.

Glad I was justified in starting the thread. Properly chuffed! Just hoping Harry's result is similar.

Barman! Gin for everyone!

Embarrasing thanks that twitter thread is so sad. scientists not allowed to talk about biology. good god. but also shines a light - worth a thread that.

greatpurplepolkadots · 09/03/2021 17:59

Thanks FindTheTruth - I donated because it is important regardless of where you live but it would be a nice plus if Scotland could become more sensible again as well as a result!

If you have the time - please, do. I have to turn things off and do a mass of work tonight or I'd be here soaking up the happiness.
BitOfFun · 09/03/2021 18:05

I am absolutely shattered; my eyes are closing (cancer treatment). Can somebody very kindly tell me what the Harry The Owl result was please, so I can go for my NanaNapâ„¢?
