Just leaving this here before I go off to my lab (possibly a hate crime soon):

Amyone know how to see the breakdown of votes for each proposed amendment by MSP? For the Lamont amendment (add sex) at least, it looks from the numbers like there were some abstentions (or absences). The beta Parliament.scot site page for the bill's progress doesn't seem to have anything on yesterday's discussions or votes. Thanks.

ArabellaScott · 11/03/2021 11:42

I am expecting that to be findable after the vote, which hasn't happened yet.

Speech’s are there as well

greatpurplepolkadots · 11/03/2021 12:18

What time does the next vote start?

Is there any point emailing again do we think?

highame · 11/03/2021 12:23

Just read someone call this a Men's Rights Bill, so I think that is very apt

NonnyMouse1337 · 11/03/2021 12:40

Yes please email all 8 of your MSPs again.

ThePankhurstConnection · 11/03/2021 12:48

I watched the speeches and didn't reply to this thread on the day - the reason, however pathetic, is that I burst into tears upon hearing the vote. I know how this things go, I know what men think of us and therefore what men in power will vote for and I know Sturgeon is no friend to women and yet still I was angry, frustrated and hurt about this.

It is a Men's Rights Bill @highame it is an appropriate label for it. anyway I need to channel this anger and frustration into coherent emails.

Iamhangingin · 11/03/2021 13:15

Thanks for the links. I have been watching the debate. What an earth is a "laundry list"? Humza used it in response to amendment 11B,

“I do not think that there is a need to include a laundry list of specific wording, as is suggested.” (Humza Yousaf MSP)

I have never heard this phrase? It sounds pretty derogatory.....

Not expecting it to be pleasant viewing... but for anyone interested, the debate on the hate crime bill is due to start momentarily.

After the debate they will vote AFAIK.

GirlLovesWorld · 11/03/2021 13:33

Hmm here we go again.

user1471425456 · 11/03/2021 13:48

The vote on today's motion on the bill will happen at decision time, which is scheduled for 18:40.

GirlLovesWorld · 11/03/2021 13:54

Labour are voting for it.

Voting options are diminishing...

toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/03/2021 13:57

fingers crossed for some common sense...

ArabellaScott · 11/03/2021 14:14

Oh, Jesus, I don't know if I can take another day of it.

I mean, thanks for sharing.

user1471425456 · 11/03/2021 14:20

Sorry, to be clear the debate on the hate crime bill is due to finish at 14:30, then there are several other items of business before the votes at 18:40.

Iamhangingin · 11/03/2021 14:22

Watching... Johann is amazing.

Iamhangingin · 11/03/2021 14:22

I'm not an angry person but I'm pretty f**king furious right now.

Olderstyle1 · 11/03/2021 14:27

Ditto Iamhangingin.

To watch misogyny being legislated for - at the same time that the BBC is discussing the reality of sexual harassment, abuse and violence for women - is too much to bear.

GirlLovesWorld · 11/03/2021 14:29

I cried listening to Johann Lamont. The number of men seeking to dismiss us without even naming our sex is revolting.

ArabellaScott · 11/03/2021 14:33

Same, Iamhanging

Humza here telling us women why we're so silly.

littlbrowndog · 11/03/2021 14:44

The odious Green Party

Why do they hate women so openly

Can’t even bring themselves to use the word sex or women

Fuckers

UnderHisAye · 11/03/2021 14:55

I don't know @littlbrowndog I really don't know where that element of the party has come from. I don't remember them being like that in my earlier days. But there were no TRAs to bully people into submission a couple of decades ago.

Olderstyle1 · 11/03/2021 15:38

It's interesting / not interesting to compare the establishment response to openly racist groups to the response to openly misogynist groups isn't it? One group gets cast out from polite society (quite rightly of course), the other group gets to continue their vitriol unchecked and to influence legislation.

Thank heaven Scotland will have a Hate Crime Act to deal with this endless abuse of women. Oh wait...
