50:50 Parliament Campaign to Encourage Women in Politics now have TWO Transwomen on the Panel

I saw 50:50 women tweet to Sue Pascoe Chair of the Conservative Women’s Organisation some time ago on their #askhertostand, but then I couldn’t find the tweet and thought maybe they’d realised their mistake (can you guess?) and deleted it.

However, how wrong I was! There are now two people that have extremely limited ‘lived experience’ as a female (Sue was a married father and successful businessman and Master to Foxhounds until a few years ago). The other person has said hi on here recently.

I don’t mean to be rude but surely the whole point of encouraging women to stand for Parliament is to help overcome the barriers women face in entering politics. Any barriers that trans people face are rather different. It is also interesting that on a panel of three for their ‘Encouraging LGBT+ Women to Stand’ campaign, there us only one person with actual lived experience of being a woman (I am hoping that Mandu Reid of the WEP was born female at least...??)

Reading between the lines I think it was out of protest because Rosie Duffield wasn't sacked for saying women have cervixes.

Oh dear, what a shame.

Hang on a sec, can we just rewind.

Jaz is a politician?

Shock

How did I miss that?

@Ereshkigalangcleg

We are being trampled over by people who have absolutely no connection to material reality, people who talk absolute nonsense.

These people have always existed with different beliefs. Rarely have they been pandered to and indulged to such a degree as we are seeing with this particular group of male people.

And before you can say 'Radical Association'....

This political group within the LDs are 'interesting'.

Ask Natalie Bird.

There's a long track record of their members having issues with FWR and them being ultra authoritarians.

Winesalot · 17/02/2021 09:58

Strangely, I don’t think it crosses their minds that posting clearly goady twitter posts about MN, with the direct or indirect intention of getting more people to post and tweet would be not something that MN would be interested in. The childlike qualities behind all this is very apparent.

They have stood for the LDs and are the treasurer for the delightful Radical Association. The LD equivalent of Momentum only considerably more batshit.

A MNer said anyone else being flippant about ADHD "would be crucified for it" and the person in question chose to interpret this as Mumsnet calling for them to be crucified Biblical style

I have dipped in and out of this thread and found it truly upsetting, more than any thread here I can remember. We are being trampled over by people who have absolutely no connection to material reality, people who talk absolute nonsense.

bourbonne I hear you. It's jaw-dropping.

But we have to believe that common sense and reality will prevail. The relative quality of arguments put forward by the women of FWR and an actual barrister have shown that none of this stands up to scrutiny. Institutions were captured by stealth very early in the process, but there is pushback now. We must keep pushing, and keep digging to help those who are taking the strain.

There appear to be a disproportionate amount of TRAs in the Lib Dems.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 17/02/2021 10:03

And the Greens as well.

Floisme · 17/02/2021 10:03

Thank you Red. My mouth is still open.

And the Greens as well.

In all the non ruling parties (as well as the Tories), but the amount of current and former trans activists, as opposed to trans allies, is striking in the Lib Dems.

RedToothBrush · 17/02/2021 10:06

I think the majority of the Radical Association are banned from MN thinking about it. I remember the invasion they tried to start one night. And the lecturing on what liberalism was. It reminds me of delightful Ask Sakar arguing what Communism is but giving a description of neo-liberalism.

Political fuckwits who are more into disinformation and social media than engaging with real world views.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/02/2021 10:07

Why did they try to invade MN, RedToothBrush?

VioletAlder · 17/02/2021 10:10

I'm doing this womanning stuff all wrong on twitter I think. I have no NSFW content. No furrying. No gaming. No weapon in profile pic 😔.

The last time I engaged with a character like that, it was by rolling a handful of 20 sided dice.

I hope MNHQ do not remove Jaz's posts. Their own words show what they think and it is important for people to be aware.

If one of us tried to summarise their views post-deletion we'd probably get a strike for alleging such offensive batshittery from a politicam.

Let their own words stand please.
