Is gone? Why on earth?!?

Literally the only contentious posts were whether or not tablet and fudge are similar.

I used to eat whole packets of Thornton's tablet. There's just something about it!

womanity · 03/02/2021 13:10

@testingmitb

Was that the thread with the Tragic Mushroom?

Someone posted a tablet recipe, anyone care to share as I have a mind to make some.

Ingredients
  • 1 can condensed mil
  • all the sugar in the world

Boil it.
Eat it.

I really really need the marmalade cake recipe. It was going to cheer up my lockdown blues.

All this talk of lattice work has reminded me of a Carrot Fishing net! I need to see it being made and hung like a hammock from green pepper palm trees.

There were some amazing recipes on there Cake

I wouldn't dare tell any of you what to talk about or what not to talk about and I don't know the history is of this thread, but can I tell you of my first experience of Mumsnet about 3 years ago

I had lots of questions and was open to being educated by those much smarter than me so it was a bit of a kick in the teeth when I realised why the thread was quickly filling up with recipes and food talk. Several gins were needed before I had the courage to come back again.

I am so sorry - I started a thread on this, in Chat, when I realised the original one had gone - I should have known that the wise women of Feminism chat would have sorted this out without my intervention!

My sausage casserole recipe is lost forever....will no one think about the children?????!!!!

If yours was the one with cider Shadow, rest assured, it will not be forgotten.

Ah, thanks, that’s one for the back pocket. DH came home from a team building work exercise a couple of years ago, full of it because he’d learnt how to prepare and cook celeriac. It’s dismayed him quite how many times I’ve bought celeriac since, all the while telling him I bow to his superior celeriac knowledge. He can have a go at that this weekend Grin

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 03/02/2021 15:58

I wonder if the pastry was frozen? As all I can imagine is lumps of pastry being pushed through the grater....

I have a recipe somewhere for lemon bars, where the topping is grated pastry. It is certainly frozen, before grating over the lemon filling.

Impatiens · 03/02/2021 16:04

Wow, that marmalade cake recipe..drool

MightyMike · 03/02/2021 16:39

That was my first ever deletion 🙁

I just posted the video, didn't misgender, and I was engaged and replied to a poster.

I was told it wasn't in the spirit of Mumsnet. But I didn't ridicule or deride anyone.

Impatiens · 03/02/2021 16:47

It's disappointing - I assume because it named specific people it makes the moderators jittery? Can't think of any other reason - being told it's 'not in the spirit' doesn't really give much to go on.

I think a discussion around the different factions of trans people and trans activism, as illustrated there by IW and EI, would be really interesting!

FinalSongbird · 03/02/2021 16:49

You're still here though Wink

I had my arse handed to me by Dittany once. That's my claim to fame Grin Still think I was right Shock

PeterPandemic · 03/02/2021 17:44

Here lies my grated pastry pie.
It was described as "controversial" and "a bit odd" on arrival at the table. DH said he was 'distracted by the soggy bottom' which I had blind baked so who knows what went on there. But it was nice. Crunchy. Took much less pastry to cover the top than if I'd just rolled it.

Now I'm going to eat the tablet I found earlier.

Beamur · 03/02/2021 19:14

I like the idea of grated pastry pie.
Half a celeriac still in the fridge...is the pear and celeriac soup really nice? I have some pears...
My Mum used to keep a tin of Fussells condensed milk in the fridge and just eat it. We never had anything made with it Grin

womanity · 03/02/2021 19:18

Also with a celeriac, you’re obligated to pretend to any children present that you’re having brain for dinner.
