@NotFabulousDarling
Yes, thank you, I am not very good at breaking into the conversation as I don't really know a lot (I hit peak trans with the JKR stuff before my NC) and am mostly in learning mode with it all, but seeing these threads make it in AIBU with such good points raised and discussed has made me feel like the discussion is open to everyone, even if you're not 100% up on every aspect of all this stuff.
hi
Fabulous, I found it to be a long process to get your head around the issues fully.
I realised that it was because I still believed that the people in charge, the authorities, policy makers and decision makers had everyone's best interests at heart (party political arguments aside) and it was just a matter of balancing needs and requirements fairly. I was a bit of a fan of authority and rules (within reason obvs).
Now I understand, after a year of trying to work it out and research, that basic social contract seems to have broken down and there is no fairness or consideration of all needs. Disabled people, religious people and women's needs are all being sacrificed, often unthinkingly for the needs of one particular and very vocal and manipulative group.
I can no longer trust the police to treat me and my daughters fairly (in policy, it might be slightly better on the ground), the CPS, hospitals, our schools (I was told that if my daughter objected to changing with a boy in the room, she had to go elsewhere or stop being so unkind to him), our media inc. the BBC and Ofcom etc etc.
It is a very unpleasant thing to realise that this is where we are - it is the Upside Down BUT at least we know what we are dealing with and therefore have the opportunity to do something. I have done so much more in the last year than I have ever done about any cause and it makes me feel a bit better.
Let us just pray that MNHQ allow us to communicate on the main boards from time to time so we can raise the alarm for the other women that are all affected by this.
