Only half caught it (might rewatch later) but caught something in their song about "trans" and "J K Rowling"

leaving it there, as it's quite a mainstream show ....

When you look at the events they've done and other performers they are billed alongside, it's clear they wouldn't get booked if they weren't woke.

It's their target market.

BrassicaRabbit · 19/12/2020 11:14

Ha I feel vindicated. I have a good sense for sniffing out misogynist men (because they're so rare ha!) and I've been telling my partner Russell Howard is a closet misogynist for ages. I couldn't pin it down to anything specific but he has an air about him.

Can you imagine him platforming a racist, actually transphobic or ablist performer? I don't think so. But misogyny right now is so acceptable it's fashionable.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 19/12/2020 11:27

The zombie facts thing is so true. DH referenced JKR being a transphobe on the back of that Saturday Night Live sketch, things just take on a life of their own if enough people say it.

NeutralJanet · 19/12/2020 11:34

Flo and Joan remind me of a sweary version of those cringe inducing Nationwide adverts, way too try hard.

BrassicaRabbit · 19/12/2020 11:56

The zombie facts thing means we potentially have a generation of young people holding misogynist views. Young people who are vital in effecting change because they are often comparatively better off for time (no elderly relatives or childcare to do) and sometimes even money (I didn't realise at the time that my 20s would be as good as it got, financially). Young people who will go on to influence policies, teach children, care for our vulnerable relatives etc and whose misogynist views will influence the way they work. It depresses me.

akittencalledjesus · 19/12/2020 13:04

I normally quite like them but FFS, the second the JK Rowling line was uttered they lost me.

Such a shame how young women care so little about their rights. They'd rather be abused/discriminated against for no reason other than being born with a female reproductive system and, shock horror, live as women. because that's what they fucking are.

The most recent one I've come across is that Santa is preferred over Father Christmas because it's more gender neutral.

Mother Baby Vessel Earth despairs.

Flywheel · 19/12/2020 13:14

Why do you need a gender neutral name for a fat man with a beard? FFS

akittencalledjesus · 19/12/2020 13:17

You're not allowed to fat shame or misgender people. Even the fake ones like Father Christmas.

WhereIsMyMojoGone · 19/12/2020 13:20

@Soontobe60

Ironic isn’t it that one line positively references women in Poland fighting for their rights, and another couple of lines that do the exact opposite. JKR is fighting for women’s rights. Women who do so are insulted and called Karens. They both need to grow up and get an eduction on women’s issues.
Yup I noticed that too.

Too sweary, too aggressive and too woke for me but I doubt that I am their target audience. Nothing in that song made me even smile and I've got a great sense of humour Grin

Having spent so much time on Twitter....

Better not go there actually 🤐

Jux · 19/12/2020 13:25

RH just isn't that funny, compared to most mainstream comedians around now.

I always found him way too shouty. I hate comedians who think bellowing their sentences make them hilarious.

zanahoria · 19/12/2020 13:42

I note only three individuals are mentioned Trump, Giuliani and JK Rowling.

Is she really that bad?

zanahoria · 19/12/2020 13:45

and who are these two?

Richard Stilgoe's granddaughters?

Smallsteps88 · 19/12/2020 13:54

Are these the two sisters who made those awful songs for some TV ads a couple of years ago? Nationwide? I’m not googling them to boost their search numbers.

TellMeMoorish · 19/12/2020 14:22

Ha, I know them. Both financially supported by family, and have never had to really struggle for anything. And yes, both WOKER THAN THOU.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 19/12/2020 14:24

Yep, the JK Rowling slagging off and the Karen jibe made me turn the song off. Bye Flo and Joan 🖕🏻

MsMarvellous · 19/12/2020 14:46

Yep. Switched off at that point too. Wankers.

But Santa is literally a female name in some countries. Besides Father Christmas I've never heard of a bloke called Santa (but I have met several nonfictional women with that name).
WhereYouLeftIt · 19/12/2020 15:20

Why am I not surprised?

And as for this line - (The Karens all kicked off when they saw a statue shatter) - really? No men (of any age) said a word? So the implication is that women older than these two are racist as well as transphobic (the JK jibe). Misogynists, the pair of them.

And as for the swearing - am I the only one who thought it was like a three year old beaming because they shouted 'poohead'?

@trappedsincesundaymorn

The man's a prat, can't stand him.
  • full disclosure....I know him IRL and he was always a prat.
I always thought he was an unfunny tosser. Happy to have it confirmed by someone who knows him.

Can't bear them 2 either. When they done that Nationwide xmas advert, I had to switch channels. It made me irrationally angry.

Floisme · 19/12/2020 16:32

I would just like to make it clear that FloisNotme.

TheMarzipanDildo · 19/12/2020 16:51

I do love that Garfunkel and Oates song posted up thread.

BitMuch · 19/12/2020 16:57

That's no surprise, Russell Howard is a total misogynist with a PC virtue signalling nice guy act. He's hugely pornsick, constantly joking about his favourite porn themes, in between making fun of his mum.

I guess Flo and Joan think our prisons should become more like Azkaban then, a mixed sex prison? God forbid someone cares about the privacy, safety and dignity of women and girls, especially working class, abused and vulnerable ones. That's an absurd hilarious concept to these self-centred posh women and Russell Howard.
