Rachel Rooney who wrote a delightful book about children feeling comfortable with their bodies has been described as 'hateful' by author Philip Pullman in response to a tweet by Clara Vulliamy. Rooney has written about this on Twitter. I'm so upset for her:

I think people on twitter should just ignore Pullman now.

@PotholeParadies

I think people on twitter should just ignore Pullman now.
I do wonder if it's attention (and relevance) seeking.
ThatIsNotMyUsername · 07/12/2020 15:26

Certainly can’t be book sales...

PotholeParadies · 07/12/2020 15:50

He's mucking about for something. What he gets from it, I don't know, but he's not interested in serious discussion.

Look at the time-stamps. One minute he's trying to support trans people in the UK, then the literal next minute he claims it was just aboutsupporting his personal friend.

Ignore him, people on twitter and focus on being nice to Rachel, the real victim in all this.

Quite right Pothole, Rachel doesn't deserve any of this.

Well the law of unintended consequences comes into play again. I was telling my husband about the book etc and how no mainstream sellers are stocking it. He's gone online, confirmed what I said, got angry, then ordered copies and made a donation lol Without all this sniping at Rachel we'd never have known, and don't even have any children in the family of that age. Smile

Now he’s dating someone can’t read a book (not sure if it’s one of his or Rachel’s...) he’s either having a laugh or has lost the plot.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 07/12/2020 16:05

Saying not dating

@BriocheForBreakfast

I'm so disappointed in Philip Pullman - it won't stop me enjoying HDM series 2 but what a knob!
I probably won't buy the last part of The Book of Dust when it comes out. I got stuck halfway through The Secret Commonwealth. It's a bit dull and silly.

The look of distaste on Mrs Coulter's face last night when she was given the option of a pair of jeans to make her blend in was wonderful.

Apollo440 · 07/12/2020 17:28

Why haven't Amazon got the book? They can't have got it banned from there?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 07/12/2020 17:46

They haven’t banned Abigail have they? Probably delivery issues?

PotholeParadies · 07/12/2020 17:57

Wasn't there a petition to stop them banning Abigail?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 07/12/2020 18:59

It didn’t go anywhere...
