Don't know if this was already posted but it's a glimmer of hope that soe judges have their heads screwed on tightly.

I doubt you actually failed your baby however bad you feel

merrymouse · 10/02/2021 10:49

Also Buffster, I have no doubt that you didn't fail your baby, and I respect the reasons why your take on this might be different to mine.

There is a big discussion to have about the pressure pregnant women are put under and feel, (which you can't 'identify out of), but maybe that is another thread!

NotBadConsidering · 10/02/2021 10:54

I never once had the impression that Freddy, as a trans parent, was feted to be lonely because there seems to be a whole micro-universe in Freddy’s life that revolves around Freddy at the centre.

MichelleofzeResistance · 10/02/2021 11:02

There is (and this is the same thing being discussed in different situations across several threads, because it's multiple fronts it is happening on) a difference between expecting language to be added to ensure that everyone regardless of identity feels recognised and included:

...and expecting everyone else's language to be erased and changed and their reality adapted for you so that your uninterrupted sense of personal reality can dominate.

One is inclusion. The other is not. And it's always female people who were neither born to and have no identified into the more powerful sex who lose.

TheBuffster · 10/02/2021 11:03

The medical conditions that effect pregnancy are usually not a choice though. For example if the mother stops taking the medication her health and therefore the baby's could suffer.
Taking hormones for aesthetic reasons is a choice.
Maybe we don't need to be paragons of virtue but in my mind his attitude signalled early on the baby was secondary to his own desires.
I'd have expected at the very least for him to be recorded as female in NHS records to ensure no oversights.

TheBuffster · 10/02/2021 11:17

But yeah, I am obviously going to come at it from a different angle than most people.

merrymouse · 10/02/2021 11:45

Buffster I blame myself for something completely different to CP, (even though strangely I wouldn't make that association for other people in the same situation) and I understand the frustration and hurt caused by people who seem to take no responsibility.

I just don't know what medication Freddy would have taken.

TheBuffster · 10/02/2021 12:02

Didn't mean to derail. Just bitter and jealous.

Mission Statement and Rationale"

Check out the External Reviewers. They include

Freddy McConnell - Advocate, trans birthing dad

Freddy paying no attention to the court ruling that Freddy is "mum" not "dad".

Freddie is entitled to refer to Freddieself however they want. They just can't put a lie on their child's birth certificate

Toomanyradishes · 11/02/2021 12:17

Freddy was not on hormone treatment at the time of conception and I would imagine was guided by the fertility clinic/doctors on this in the same was women with pcos who take the same drugs are guided, and have to make the same decision

Toomanyradishes · 11/02/2021 12:23

Sorry i am an idiot ignore my last post i got male female etc all mixed around as its all so flipping complicated now.

Freddie has stated they stopped hormone treatment before concieving. I assume freddie was on testosterone prior to that, which as below may impact a foetus

intra-uterine environment may be a key factor in the pathogenesis of PCOS, in particular, hyperexposure of the foetus to androgens. High concentrations of maternal serum testosterone during pregnancy have been shown to influence behaviour during childhood, the prevalence of autism disorders and anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) concentrations in adolescence. They are also thought to re-programme the female reproductive axis to induce the features of PCOS in later life: oligo/anovulation, polycystic ovaries, hyperandrogenism and insulin resistance (IR). Support for this developmental theory for the aetiology of PCOS is gathering momentum, following results from first animal studies and now human data, which lend credence to many aspects of this hypothesis.

It's bad enough that ppl are allowed to falsify their own birth certificates, never mind someone else's.

OhHolyJesus · 11/02/2021 15:24

Audio in link with Freddy saying how unwelcome Freddy was made to feel in hospital when pregnant.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 11/02/2021 15:32

I don't have a problem with people like Freddy having children. Accidents happen, people want to have babies, it's all biological urges.

However, I don't understand how someone can say "I am a man" and simultaneously be planning a pregnancy. It's the opposite of what being a man is.

So, I do think that maternity services should accommodate pronouns and preferred language for the few people who are both trans/NB/pregnant.

But, Freddy can fuck off. Life doesn't give you cake and let you eat it. I'm kind of embarrassed that Freddy hadn't realised that.

BraveBananaBadge · 11/02/2021 15:33

'Maternity' in inverted commas now. Really doesn't care who he offends as long as he gets his own way, does he?

Do we really have that many definitions of mother?

We really need an eyerolling emoticon. I find Freddy very tiresome.

Progenitress?

I demand to be seen as a proginitress. Cos, gawd knows that after reading that list I want everyone to give me a gin.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/07/2021 19:04

The Latin word would be progenitrix, I think.

EyesOpening · 01/07/2021 23:02

It's probably been discussed before but aren't there different medical conditions that can be inherited solely from one sex so if you can no longer rely on knowing which sex your father/mother grandfathers/grandmothers are, couldn't this potentially cause problems?
