This one day conference will explore transgender ideology and its recent extensive impact upon public policy. (On zoom with online Q&A)

Tickets cost £27.54. Quite a line up!

James Kirkup a journalist wrote ’ During a Westminster career which began as a junior Commons researcher 25 years ago, I have never encountered a movement that has spread so swiftly and successfully, and has so fiercely rejected any challenge to its orthodoxy ..............The transgender movement has advanced through Britain’s institutions with extraordinary speed. The only thing more extraordinary than the rapid spread of this new orthodoxy is how little scrutiny it has faced and the aggressive intolerance directed towards those who question it.”

This one day conference will explore transgender ideology and its recent extensive impact upon public policy. Historical, clinical, sociological and political aspects of its emergence will be covered by the contributors.

Wow!

OMG that looks fantastic. I can''t attend but look forward very much to hearing about it.

It doesn't say who the organiser is! Why?

Also not sure why as it is online it costs £25.

If it is partly a fundraiser for a group or ... that would make sense. (eg WPUK zoom meetings are free and it is suggested you make a donation to their chosen groups)

Agree the line up looks good - as interesting for who isn't taking part as who is.

Sorry if I seem a bit cynical but wonder if this is the establishment moving into the ground cleared by grassroots feminism like WPUK, FairPlayForWomen and others.

Good point, stumbledin.

I'd be interested to know who the organisers are but I have no problem paying to hear professionals speak. They're doing a job and deserve to be paid for it.

I've sent a message via Eventbrite asking the organisers who they are and if they would put up some information on the page.

I don't follow any of the speakers listed, but will try to message a couple of them tomorrow if others haven't done it already.

Thanks NonnyMouse - hope you hear back.

It was late at night and I think I sort of thought maybe I should do that tomorrow when I'm a bit more alert. Unless you think a second query might make them think we need to be a bit more open?

NonnyMouse1337 · 10/11/2020 13:57

Heather Brunskell-Evans (who is listed as one of the speakers) has tweeted about the event, but hasn't replied yet to questions about the organisers.

I've seen more people promoting this on twitter. Still no info on the organisers of the event. I've sent a second message to the organiser via Eventbrite. Will see if they respond.

Serious breadth and an excellent line-up. That's enough for me and luckily I can afford the £25. And I agree with Unwashed, I'm happy to pay people for their time and expertise, speakers, technicians and organisers.

But it would be good if there were concessions - or the opportunity to contribute to free tickets for others. Guess we've become used to these options from women's organisations...

stumbledin · 15/01/2021 15:33

Have just seen that a number of speakers have now been added and include Selinda Todd and Julie Bindel.

So still wondering who the organisers are. Maybe that have not identified themselves because of the likelihood of some sort of public pile on and / or threats to the professional life or ... all the other tactics used to try and intimidate.

So a balance between professional and feminist speakers.

Veeta · 16/01/2021 12:30

There are now £15 concession tickets available. And it states that all fees go to a 'therapy charity'. Perhaps this has been added after suggestions? I didn't look earlier.

Veeta · 16/01/2021 12:32

Thanks NonnyMouse for this - I will definitely attend, great line-up.

Hmm it still only shows me the full price ... There aren't any other options. Therapy charity is pretty vague.

Melroses · 16/01/2021 13:13

It is a great line up.

I would hope the charity is a reflection of the speakers, otherwise they are wasting their time.

Veeta · 16/01/2021 14:46

When i click on the link in the OP it takes me to a page which shows tickets costing 25, but at the bottom of the page is a 'more events from this organiser' box which has the same event (as far as I can see?) but with tickets 15-25.

stumbledin · 16/01/2021 15:31

re tcikets etc., it actually looks like they have set up another page (instead of updating original one?) and if you go to that more details and different tickets prices.
www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/do-not-adjust-your-set-sexgender-and-public-policy-tickets-127833568645?aff=erelpanelorg

Although if you go by numbers meaning anything this is an earlier set up!

If they weren't being so secretive about it all, might be inclined to tell them to sort it out. As obviously lower amount makes it possible more could take part.

Okay as the sun is shining I have sent a message.

QueenoftheAir · 16/01/2021 16:37

I'm very much looking forward to this. Apparently there are over 400 registrations

It's going to be a long day of talks! But I'm looking forward to it as well. Smile

Not because of the price (although that is a consideration) but because of the length of time, was wondering if those of you attending would post highlights? Blush

Not verbatim or anything - but anything that particularly stands out.
