If he was talking about 'identity ' why use the words for sex?

It's not as if he is unaware of the issues.

What's the difference. It's all men erasing women and the language used to describe ourselves for their own needs and wants.

This is it. I couldn't care less if he wants to call himself transgender, part female etc. The problem comes when there are laws around these self-descriptions, the police are recording "transphobic hate incidents". Is my stating this is nonsense transphobic? Who knows?

I don't know who he is or anything about him, other than snippets picked up from posters here but from what he has said, as quoted here, his apportioning of percentages and of being transgender seem essentially frivolous which is how a lot of contemporary 'identifying as' strikes me.

He is probably one of the most seriously frivolous people you are likely to meet.

I really liked his comments that you can't change sex, and respect his implicit, pussy-footed defence of JKR but the transgender because he's only 70% a man thing is nonsense and seems to be a statement to appease the trans lobby.

And erm, erm, basically it's a parody of all those 1950s B movies.. all those little women being held by mad starngers to be rescued by the hero.. who was no better than the mad scientist, just had slightly better manners, or a white hat!

So much of this issue would go away if we all agreed that feminine doesn't always equal female or women, and masculine doesn't always equal male or man, and lots of people use femininity and masculinity to describe sets of social stereotypes that are far from one size fits all.
