Chrissy Teigen, a Democrat and her bathrooms comment!

I’m British, and have lived in the US, west coast, for over 20 years. I voted today for Joe, but I’ve started to feel more and more pushed out, due to certain groups taking precedent.

I saw this on Twitter from Chrissy (yes, I know) but WTAF. “It’s insane what our fears are if we lose, compared to their fears if Biden wins. like we will prob all die or be handmaids and they’re worried about bathroom safety”. And the comments too OMG.
twitter.com/chrissyteigen/status/1323819299270619137

I know Chrissy and her husband John legend are Democrats and this is par for the course. But seriously, safeguarding women and children means this little that she’d make a comment like this. Why is it so hard to explain to the uber woke?

Also, I did want to mention, they recently suffered a loss of pregnancy, and as a fellow bereaved mother, I do feel for them very much. It’s just devastating and never leaves, you only learn to live with it. ❤️

@Blueberries0112

Police never really care for domestic fights though. Usually they are abusive spouse themselves
calmly..... and do you think what ever woke left leaning alternative designed by BLM will be any better? A friend of mine who woked in Women's Aid said at least the police actually aceepted that domestic violence was a thing. I'd HATE to be a woman in America. And more importantly if I was a woman voter US and sat down and totted up this pile of crap including being held for all the worlds ills.. how do you think I'd vote if at all? I repeat unless the left in America takes a good long look at themselves they will not get a Democrat into the White House in the next thirty years.
fatblackcatspaw · 04/11/2020 13:46

woked = worked

sleepwhenidie · 04/11/2020 13:49

I can only think that she can't possibly have seen the recent 'pregnant person' preparing for labour and stillbirth on Twitter...or the biologically male people taking hormones to induce lactation in order to breastfeed babies...

Blueberries0112 · 04/11/2020 13:54

Beside, Businesses don't even have to create men room or women room or have restrooms at all for the public unless there is a reason they must. And in public restrooms, we can't ask every single person if they were born male before letting them in.

I think it's the school and workplace people are concern about but they usually make it work for everyone

‘Blueberries0112

Usually?!?!

I am assuming from that that you are completely detached from reality.
Of course some police are domestic abusers, but I don’t know what you have been reading if you think it’s most of them.

TweeBree · 04/11/2020 15:06

Seeing prominent and intelligent women like CT

She's really not viewed as intelligent at all. She's incredibly mean-spirited and was a huge driver of cancel culture and online bullying before 'be kind' came into fashion.

HecatesCats · 04/11/2020 15:11

I'd HATE to be a woman in America

This is why I can never understand why Americans feel so entitled to suggest that Gender Critical feminists in the UK are somehow anti-progressive. The states has an appalling track record on women's rights. Appalling maternity rights, appalling on maternal healthcare, particularly for BAME women, appalling on the sex pay gap, appalling on reproductive rights (which let's face it are hanging by a thread). Yet US Gender Ideologists have convinced themselves that they occupy the high moral ground because they want to hand over women's spaces & sports to people with 'feminine' feelZ, whatever the stereotypical hell they are.

Coyoacan · 04/11/2020 15:15

As for all the Trump comments. You do realise that most of the women who are vocally GC on these boards are left leaning, ex Labour

Could someone explain to me what is good or left-leanng about the Democrats? We are told all our lives that the Democrats are left and the Republicans are right, but what do they actually do?

JFK started the Vietnam war and a programme called Camelot that taught right-wing dictatorships in Latin America more sophisticated methods of torture.

I don't want Biden to win, because the Democrats have historically been disastrous for Mexico. Trump is the first US president not to interfere in Mexican elections, for example. Whereas under Obama, that handsome and intelligent president with good manners, the USA was shipping arms to the drug barons in Mexico, which resulted in a "war" with over a quarter of a million dead and heaven knows how many feminicides.

The Democrats stand for wars and are against women's rights. I'm sure the Republican have their own faults.

fatblackcatspaw · 04/11/2020 15:17

Indeed fist bumps @HecatesCats.... no sane women would want to to go to the US as its currently constituted

FWRLurker · 04/11/2020 15:17

“Progressives”: Believe all women! All Women’s boundaries and feelings matter!

Women: we want to exclude male people from women’s previously single sex spaces

“Progressives”: not like that.

I am really hopeful this morning for a NARROW Biden win. This is ideal for centrists and radical feminists because IMO it should reduce polarization. Biden has no “mandate”. He has managed to squeak in, and he needs to seek support from everyone. That means making compromises. Reaching across the aisle. Etc.

Then again Trump could still win and we are all fucked, I honestly could see major social unrest.

NRA going global. And they are the very people who vote for Trump

DidoLamenting · 04/11/2020 15:46

It's continually amazing how using sexist tropes, like Karen, is seen as soo progressive

It's being used on this thread by a poster who I assume will think of herself as progressive and liberal.

Blueberries0112 · 04/11/2020 15:48

I check most of the polical parties and what they vote for when they pass a law, they are for women’s health . It’s usually failed because a conservative block it

Blueberries0112 · 04/11/2020 15:51

One example who is for and against is requiring all health insurance to cover birth control, no one Democrat I am aware of says "I am man, why should I pay for other people's birth control pills"

Imnobody4 · 04/11/2020 16:49

Me too at the moment. Hoping Starmer will recognise it as a clear signal to ditch the whole extreme woke agenda and move back to the rational centre ground.

I was wondering about this. Will all the woke shizzle like signing away girls' single sex spaces be possible if Biden only just wins?
GrinitchSpinach · 04/11/2020 17:04

If the Republicans hang on to control of the Senate, the Equality Act (which would write into law protections for "gender identity" at the expense of sex) is very unlikely to be enacted. However, a President Biden would be able to issue executive orders and "Dear Colleague" letters with wide-reaching effects as Barack Obama did.

PhilSwagielka · 04/11/2020 18:07

It’s not the Dems trying to ban abortion.

PhilSwagielka · 04/11/2020 18:10

@Mollyollydolly

This. Treat voters like they're stupid and guess what? They wont vote for you. I wish the Labour Party would learn this, they've learnt nothing from Brexit either. Keep making the same mistakes again and again. They never ask why just accuse people of being stupid.
So do Tories. Plenty of people on the right think that if you’re left-wing you’re stupid and brainwashed and a spoiled brat who’s never had to deal with reality.

It goes both ways. The difference is, the right are allowed to be as rude as they want.

teawamutu · 04/11/2020 18:26

I find it depressing how many smart friends still talk in terms of The Goodies and The Baddies, regardless of political persuasion.

Not helpful, in terms of trying to find a reasonable compromise.

HecatesCats · 04/11/2020 18:30

@PhilSwagielka

It’s not the Dems trying to ban abortion.
It's not just abortion. Women's rights are a shit show in the states across the board. That's happened under the watch of both Democrats and Republicans. Both parties would see women's rights rolled back further - the Republicans by winding back reproductive rights (and the rest) and the Democrats by handing over women's spaces, women's platforms, women's shortlists to all comers. They didn't get anywhere near equality before they decided that this was 'progress':

RedToothBrush · 04/11/2020 18:45

Democratic identity politics work against them because America is on the whole a socially conservative country.

Trump has increased his numbers on minorities and in women. He's only down in white males.

The Democratics have taken it for granted that they win on the basis of identity politics, forgetting that its a socially conservative country.

If you want to talk about intersectionally, then you probably should be considering the Small Town Christian Hispanic as much as the Atheist Black Young Female City Dweller.

I do think that failing to apply nuance and calling everyone bigots in a preachy manner left right and centre on a number of issues tends to alienate rather than win you votes.

It will be interesting to see the direction of travel for Democrat Identity Politics or whether the penny start to drop about how it doesn't reflect the beliefs of the general population as a whole.

Just an aside but under Obama's watch there was much hand wringing about child brides in countries which aren't the US whilst at the same time doing nothing about the problem in the US.
