Why would I risk my job for the sake of taking on TRAs when I can do so much more whilst having my job?
I quietly get on with my job at work-no 'overt' GCing, just simply changing any mention of 'gender' to 'sex' when that's the word they really meant. Making sure the likes of Mermaids get no where near the building. Ensuring we focus on teaching about sex-based rights along with all the other protected characteristics etc.
My DH is similar. He was introduced to this whole area by myself and Mumsnet. His particular area of legal work doesn't come up against this much but he now has he eyes peeled for any incorrect statements about the Equality Act. He's also happy to jump on here and offer legal tips for anyone who needs them in their GCing.
You see, we're everywhere. We're the teachers at your child's school. We're the government solicitors. We're the doctors, the architects, the journalists, the Girl Guiding volunteers, the care home workers, the nursery staff, the authors, the town councilors. We're your next door neighbours, we're the person you chatted to on the bus.
And because you pushed us all 'underground', you'll never know who we are, where we work, how many of us there are or what we're doing.
There's a religious saying along the lines of 'the greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing the world he didn't exist."
The greatest trick GCs played was convincing TRAs all we do is post on Mumsnet.
