Looks like something is about to drop.

Times article today.
www.thetimes.co.uk/article/chemist-sells-hormones-for-trans-children-online-cbgtxlbdr

It's about Clear Chemist who dispense drugs in the UK for GenderGP. There were some threads on here about that last year.

StandUpStraight · 06/10/2020 07:30

Thanks Nonny. Good to see Mermaids featuring in that sordid little tale. They won’t like that. I can hear a clock ticking...

CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/10/2020 07:44

Woah! That last part!!

How to sign up for GGPs services... really?!?!?!?!?!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/10/2020 08:07

Hopefully people will also click through and read the "Related Articles".

Interesting that Gender GP has been bought by a Hong Kong company - must be money in it...

teawamutu · 06/10/2020 08:31

Good piece but bit too much detail on how to sign up IMO.

OldCrone · 06/10/2020 09:09

On the GenderGP site it said that Faye Kirkland was writing something for the BBC. She's tweeted that she'll be talking about 'the latest investigation' on the BBC news channel at 9.20.

The BBC slot was very good- mentioned that GenderGP has been mentioned 500 times by parents (am assuming that’s individual messages rather than individual threads!) in the last year. I’d really like to know how much business GenderGP get via Mermaids.

Yet again with the lies about puberty blockers being safe - a position that the NHS itself has stepped back from in recent months.

These are the instructions for handling lupron, the brand name of puberty blockers.

Leuprolide can pass into body fluids (urine, feces, vomit). For at least 48 hours after you receive a dose, avoid allowing your body fluids to come into contact with your hands or other surfaces. Caregivers should wear rubber gloves while cleaning up a patient's body fluids, handling contaminated trash or laundry or changing diapers. Wash hands before and after removing gloves. Wash soiled clothing and linens separately.

In the event of a LEAK or SPILL of Lupron “the procedure to be followed is to Evacuate Area", and personal precautions are to “wear respirator, chemical safety goggles, rubber boots, and heavy rubber gloves.”

Just saw the live piece with Dr Kirkland on BBC News. It specifically mentioned Mermaids and confirmed that they are conducting an "internal investigation" and that they will only use the NHS pathway from now on.

umbel · 06/10/2020 09:32

Thanks OldCrone - I managed to catch it too. Pretty damning of both Mermaids and GenderGP. I’m shocked (but not surprised) that their forum appears to be pretty much unmoderated, though I bet they’d swoop in to remove any posts suggesting it might be unwise to medicate your child at home with unregulated drugs, as that would be triggering.

If the BBC are actually daring to report on it, you know thd jig must be almost up.
Thingybob · 06/10/2020 10:11

I wonder if the BBC interview triggered any guilt in Victoria Derbyshire? She played a big part in the mass brainwashing that has caused so much distress to so many families.

OldCrone · 06/10/2020 10:29

Previous threads about the Webberleys. Clear Chemist named Helen Webberley as the doctor in charge of prescribing even after her suspension (see screenshots on the first link):

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3658065-Isnt-Helen-Webberley-still-prevented-from-providing-services-in-UK

I made a complaint to the regulator about Clear Chemist at the time, but heard nothing back. It seems you have to be a journalist with a national newspaper in order for them to actually take any notice of complaints and concerns.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/10/2020 10:36

they will only use the NHS pathway from now on

Which begs the question, of why they weren't using it before, and on what evidence using whose guidance?

Manderleyagain · 06/10/2020 10:37

Oldcrone, why don't you contact the journalists with the details of your complaint that was ignored.

OldCrone · 06/10/2020 10:39

Unfortunately I don't have a record of it because I used an online form rather than email.

Yes... I thought it could inadvertently serve as an advert.
OldCrone · 06/10/2020 10:59

There is some discussion about complaints made to the regulators on this thread. Popchyk took this further than I did, but I don't know if she eventually got any sort of response from them.

Foxy kimono qc has pontificated on this - saying reversable puberty blockers are reversable (and did he mention they're reversable) and the Times are rich to clutch their pearls on this when they are partly responsible for the market for internet drugs by trying to restrict access to health care for trans kids.

Manderleyagain · 06/10/2020 11:23

Odcrone oh yes that's annoying - when you do online forms you don't have a copy of what you said.

PronounssheRa · 06/10/2020 11:25

Mermaids last month 'check out Gender GP'

There needs to be a formal investigation, slippery as hell.

Yeah, I wonder. Those kids "born in the wrong body". But OTOH is there any part of the BBC that hasn't been involved in pushing this on kids and parents, from "I am Leo" to that unprofessional LGBT correspondent who puts a Pink News style spin on his reports? When Webberley was convicted and banned, the 5 Live news team somehow managed to make her sound like a wronged hero.

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

Well, exactly. I might by cynical, but would not be surprised if their internal investigation found that they had followed all "proper" (as defined by themselves) processes, and even if they didn't, it didn't make any difference as everyone loves them and thinks they're lovely, and even if that isn't true, you can't blame them, as they are nice and kind. Why can't you just be kiiiind back?? Or they may throw someone under the bus. I guess as this is with regard to regulation they can't just reverse ferret. Yet. A bit of pre-emptive ferreting to do first.
