It makes me laugh because it takes aim at po-faced wokery. That's to be welcomed in my opinion.

But if she's only a shade more left than the accepted norm, and in some cases not as left as other activists... Don't we have a problem? I am left of center myself but I think extreme left is just as harmful as extreme right.

As I said, I actually know at least two people who would read her thread on health and nod along in agreement.

I had a long and highly edifying conversation with my partner on whether the gif is a penis joke and he concedes that he does kind of see a growing penis in it. I was wondering if perhaps it's more of a man's POV of the penis, he thinks that it's probably just that men spend more time studying their penis in all its life stages and may be more inclined to see penises everywhere... in conclusion, Penis. is probably the relevant interpretation of the gif.

The best thing about Titania is that whilst taking aim at the extreme left, its the right wingers often get suckered in, its equal opportunities mockery.

Andrew Doyle doesn't hate the left, he hates what it has become and how far that is from what it used to stand for. That doesn't make him right wing.

Different comedians. JP is Tom Walker, TMcG is Andrew Doyle.

Walker is left of centre but intensely annoyed at how Momentum hijacked Labour and made them unelectable (Testify, Brother ). His recent rant on cancel culture was fucking superb.

Andrew Doyle writes for Spiked and is deffo right of centre. But very, very funny.

I really like a lot of what Doyle does and I’m a big fan of Jonathan Pie, but I think there is a blind spot among some feminists when it comes to the gender debate - there’s a tendency to give a free pass to anyone who rejects gender ideology.

Doyle is in the same ballpark as Jordan Peterson - yes they’re “on side” when it comes to some of the pomo bullshit, but ultimately they tend towards analyses that frame the status quo / patriarchy as somehow meritocratic. They are, in the end, white males with a vested interest in justifying their immense privilege.

Rejecting genderism is not the same as being on the side of women.

I wouldn’t trust Doyle as far as I could throw him when it comes to some of the front line women’s rights issues.

I'm not always a fan of Titania as I find a lot of the content to be pretty racist but still don't think the account should be removed.

Just like the racism point above, I am willing to assume that all TM output is satirical. The character is something I like. The person behind the character I have no idea, don't really need to. If I was to learn he is incredibly misogynistic then it would colour how I see TMs outpourings, but wouldn't detract from them, iyswim.

It is rare I let what I know about an author spoil a book for me - Marion ZB for example.

Curious, total aside from the thread, but reading MZB gave me one of those rare but unmistakable Gavin de Becker type "gift of fear moments." This was decades before the truth about her being a serial sexual abuser came out, but I found one of the scenes in The Mists of Avalon really disturbing in a very visceral way. Then much later when the news broke, I had this real moment of "oh shit, those feelings all make perfect sense now!" Very creepy indeed.
