Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

What can we actually do about all this?

I live in Scotland and am shocked to discover that 'woman' now includes a person who does not look or dress like a woman but uses the pronouns and a female name.

I am really furious about this and want to know what I can actually do about this. Or can nothing be done?

I know Joanna Cherry is very good on this topic. I would like to be able to attend meetings about this once lockdown ends but don't know where to begin and if there is anything I can do now

Emails to MS Ps about the Gender representation on public boards act Also new Hate Crime legislation Murray Blackburn MacKenzie worth looking up

Thank you. I spent 3 hours scrutinizing legal documents, the GRA discussion in parliament last year and the gender neutral toilets being brought into schools.

I am going to consolidate everything into a reasoned email and email a few MPs and MSPs. God I'm annoyed 😁

Ghastly isn’t it WineCake

Talking to other people is important; IME lots of people have no idea what is going on & when they find out they want to write letters etc too.

Hi Maria53. As others have said, it's worth checking out For Women Scotland and signing up for their newsletter.

They have also provided a template you can use to email your MSPs about the definition of women in the Gender Representation on Public Boards act. You can find it in the thread linked below.

I'm thinking about this a lot at the moment.

Does anybody have experience with Womens Place? They seem to be an organisation which fit with my beliefs, but wary of getting too involved before I have heard from any current members.

I am planning on writing to my MP with my concerns (live in England).

A government petition might be worthwhile south of the border, as enough signatures would force their hand into debating the issue in Parliament. There may already be one, I will check and post link here if I find one. I'm not sure if it works the same way in Scotland?

On an individual level I think all we can do is find the courage to be open and honest about our opinion. Look at how many spineless 'celebrities' have turned on JK, she needs to know she is supported.

I emailed my MP today and my mother emailed hers. As an SNP member she wasnt at all aware of the specifics and she is totally opposed to the GRA.

I watched the Joe interview video of Mhairi Black mocking women saying they aren't entitled to their own spaces. Wrong Mhairi, it's actually enshrined in law. I used to have so much time for her. Complete clown.

Imagine if JKR was suddenly converted to the cause of Scottish independence and fought an election for the new radfem-indy party against Sturgeon on women's rights!

Well, weirder things have happened this year.
