Have to say I have never heard of her, but she is giving pink news everything they every wanted to hear!

It’s been an epic journey getting to this point. I hope my story will help LGBT people avoid the GC movement or find their way out of it. I might write a book about what I went through, but this article by @vicparsons_ is a good overview.

And is obviously hoping to hook others into asking her opinions with this barely veiled threat of more shock horror stories to come:

I have receipts on some big names that weren’t mentioned in this piece, but hopefully that part of the story will get out in the future. Let me be clear that some GCs are well meaning. Some have helped me. Many of the leaders in the movement are corrupt, though.

So you’re a liar to pretend you haven’t heard of me

Wow! Talk about being full of your own self importance! Amy is going to end up very very lonely because the TRA cult will turn on her in a heartbeat. She has obviously never heard the of the expression don’t shit on your own doorstep.

I've been an out lesbian and feminist for 40 years and more. I've attended conferences and rallies, the Michigan Womyn's Festival several times, I've read books, I've been involved in innumerable women's groups and organisations and initiatives over the years — and I have no idea who my leader is. I'm all too aware of how lacking in power lesbians are, unless you include people like Ruth Hunt who is definitely not my leader. Where am I going wrong, Amy?

R0wantrees · 18/05/2020 10:58

As a few pp have pointed out, she doesn't seem very well and it feels as if Pink News is exploiting that.

Benjamin Cohen (CEO Pink News) will at some point have to take responsibility for his company's propaganda / negligence/ exploitation.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 18/05/2020 11:00

Let's be honest, if Pink News ever made a responsible editorial decision it was probably by mistake.

RoyalCorgi · 18/05/2020 11:00

"The top piece for your movement" is a phrase that gives a clue to Amy's personality. We've had lots of brilliant pieces over the past three years from people like Jane Clare Jones, Kathleen Stock, Julie Bindel, Janice Turner and many more. So it seems unlikely that Amy's piece was, in any meaningful sense of the word, "top". She doesn't seem quite the full shilling.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 18/05/2020 11:01

I’m so sorry ShedBuilder. Do you have male friends? Have you worked for a man at some stage? Was you father a man? That might explain it. Cults are very strict about who you’re allowed to mix with. There has to be a reason you weren’t invited to join? It’s not as if it doesn’t exist.......is it? 🤔

SheSheHe · 18/05/2020 11:03

I hope The lovely Adrian has read that Meghan Murphy piece. It’s hilarious!

R0wantrees · 18/05/2020 11:11

It is a good piece & was significant. I remember it (& have shared it on FWR)

'TERF Is Hate Speech and It’s Time to Condemn It'
by Amy Dyess

medium.com/@amydyess83/terf-is-hate-speech-and-its-time-to-condemn-it-6efc897ce407

Do writers of Medium articles get data on how often a piece is read / shared?

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 18/05/2020 11:16

OK I've just looked her up and it turns out she isn't who I thought she was. I thought she was the "lesbians at ground zero" author who lead the "get the L out" protests. Apologies, I take back the part of my earlier question relating to that.

So in that case, apart from being familiar with her name from hearing about her being rude to Charlie Evans that time, I too don't know who she is or what her contribution to GC feminism was supposed to be.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 18/05/2020 11:16

Wait... Back up... She said what? Who is she?

Can someone give me a quick synopsis please?

I read the Twitter thing and am not certain I actually understood what I read.

Julie Bindel did what, now? Really?

OvaHere · 18/05/2020 11:27

R0 is right in that she has written some decent stuff but it's also the case she has never been that much on the radar in the UK compared to many of the women that live here who have been doing a lot of the on the ground work.

Her medium piece was good but think pieces like that are easily forgotten by most unless you churn them out very regularly and do a heck of a lot of self promotion.

Dances · 18/05/2020 11:31

Just when you think this shit can't get any more bonkers.....

RoxytheRexy · 18/05/2020 11:38

I’d really like to hear the punk rock song she wrote that was loved. Maybe we need a catchy jingle?

RoyalCorgi · 18/05/2020 11:46

Yes, they do.

RoyalCorgi · 18/05/2020 11:49

She had 4.3 claps on that piece. But it's wrong to assume that anyone who has read that piece will automatically remember who wrote it, or indeed recall the piece itself. I almost certainly read the piece at the time, but I read dozens of articles on the internet by gc feminists, so that one didn't stand out for me.

CodenameVillanelle · 18/05/2020 11:55

The piece she wrote was good, but not especially important in comparison with other pieces written before and since

HavelockVetinari · 18/05/2020 11:58

I'm loving the #IBlameJulieBindel hashtag on Twitter right now Grin

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 18/05/2020 12:03

I quite like punk songs, generally speaking, and pay attention to anything new that's coming out, so it's odd that I haven't heard Amy's supposed big hit.

I used to follow Amy. Then backed away because her Twitter was becoming weirder.

Lordfrontpaw · 18/05/2020 12:17

Me too.

HavelockVetinari · 18/05/2020 13:13

@TheProdigalKittensReturn I know, exactly! Burn the witch! Milk-souring cow-curser that she is Angry

I'm pretty sure she's responsible for me stubbing my toe this morning too.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 18/05/2020 13:18

These wives. Can they do cleaning and light housework? Or are they just for purely lesbian terrorism purposes? #askingforafriend

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/05/2020 13:28

Julie Bindel made my video not come on in my work zoom meeting this morning. Actually that's a good thing, even though she didn't intend it to be. Thanks Julie!

TinselAngel · 18/05/2020 13:31

Can I be paired up with another heterosexual woman so there's no rumpy pumpy based misunderstandings?
